Re: Splawn or Friedman?

I had a 2018 Quickrod 2 different times and never felt it to be too stiff or unforgiving. But mine was also fully loaded, and I regularly ran it in low B+ mode, so that could factor in. I thought it was a great sounding amp, but also not "otherworldly". To be honest, you'll get most of the...

Re: 5150 with H9 Micropitch plugin

Alright, y'all got me curious about micropitch harmony with my Jet City amps. I found a variation of it on my Line 6 Helix. It does the micropitch, but only + or -, not both. I went with - and holy hell does this sound good! I could only imagine how much better Eventide's stuff sounds! Yeah, a Sold...

Re: Finished an OLD build.

For the LP Jr thing i mean more the classic tobacco burst, 2 knobs. The visual of a lot of Jrs. And that you kind of consider the Wolf your "LP". You are absolutely right about the flattop, etc.

Re: Finished an OLD build.

That's sweet! Wolfgangs are my favourite gigging guitars. They do everything I need, and nothing that I don't. Especially with the Peavey "Special" layout with one knob and a 3-way. That one particularly looks awesome, because it reminds me of an LP Jr, but like you I prefer the Wolfgang s...

Re: NGD, Young me is proud

It was listed for just under 2K USD, I didn't pay that much. I did a trade + some cash, and have in the ballpark of $1200 US into it. And yes, my understanding is the same. These were handbuilt by the Custom Shop team to fairly "Standard" specs at the time, to try to make Charvel mean some...

Re: NGD, Young me is proud

Dude these are awesome. These are pretty much on par with 80s era stuff in terms of build and quality. My 83 had a top mount Floyd added later (originally had a brass V-Trem) and it’s been set to float since before I had it. I love it and wouldn’t change it for anything. Congrats on a bad ass guita...

NGD, Young me is proud

I've always been a super strat guy, basically since the beginning of my time playing guitar. I have had a lot of great guitar, examples from all the "big names" in the game of the 80s/90s era. USA Jackson, Kramer, USA BC Rich, Ibanez, ESP. But the one that never worked out was Charvel. And...

Re: So this happened yesterday - NAD

However many years later, I still want to try out a Chupacabra... So I am jealous, because a Yeti is supposed to be very close, a couple resistors apart basically is my understanding.

Re: Just bought a Chubtone

Sweet! I have been very tempted to order a Chubtone the last few years. Other things kept getting in the way, and now with a NGD from this weekend it probably put a nail in that coffin completely, but I would still love to play one.

Re: The post-closing gearfast has commenced: NAD

I would think it definitely is a good option for “modded” Marshall vibes for sure, so that makes sense. And yes, like Billy said the volume knob is much more smooth from 0-10, I would run my SLX at 4 on the master, and then have the second master higher for solos. And that was a 100 watt.
