Runt gang is alive!
Hey Billy, do you still have a DSL too? My '09 DSL with Classic Tone iron might be going on the chopping block now since my Runt arrived...

Re: NAD - Runt 50 w/Hot Mod
Damn runt season around here!! Have you tried it without the hot mod in to compare? Edit: reading your OP again is the hot mod switchable? Yeah when it arrived I ran it for a bit without the hot mod. I think the best way to describe it stock is: touch more gain than a stock 2204 at full tilt gain w...

NAD - Runt 50 w/Hot Mod
I regret selling the one I owned nearly a decade ago, and had to jump on this one. Bought from napalmdeath on R/T, and he tossed in the Hot Mod for pennies. I forgot how good these sounded out of the box, but man the Hot Mod is really something else. I think with the gain switch Off, and the amp gai...

Re: Modded MT15 demo
I wish I knew more and wish I learned sooner. I also wish more people were okay with modding. So much gear is the same or similar, you don't need to spend hundreds or thousands on the next thing. Capacitors and resistors are cheap. Absolutely agree. ~$200 used Jet City 20 watter + maybe $40 in part...

Re: Stuff that got away
My wife is still mad that I sold my Splawn Quickrod years ago. I can always get another one though.
The one I miss most is the '84 2203 I bought from a buddy for $250 exactly 15 years ago to the day and only kept it for a couple months because I was stupid.

Re: Rockman pedal
I think this would be really cool to mess around with for a lot of those blended 80s rock sounds. Satch, Lynch, MacAlpine, ZZ Top, Def Lepp, etc. I have a pretty decent Rockman profile on my Kemper, but I'd prefer: 1) Pedal format 2) Reasonably priced 3) New $230 seems not the worst (what one websit...

Re: Splawn or Friedman?
Oh snap - I guess I didn't realize the Origin 20 was a big bottle amp. That does change my opinion now lol. Thanks for the info.

Re: Splawn or Friedman?
Save thousands and get a cheap Marshall modded. https://youtu.be/sojfzEMU1gY While I agree that modding a cheaper amp can give you some really good tones for a fraction of the cost of a new amp, a 20 watter just can't compete that well with 50 or 100 watters in the 'fullness' category. Personal exp...

Re: NAD..... Friedman Runt 50
Yeah I agree. They have an edge that other Friedman amps don't. The Runt is probably the amp that came the closest to being a number one for me in place of the DSL  I actually used it for a whole year and only went back because I missed the 100w power section. If they had a Runt 100 it would b...

Re: Splawn or Friedman?
I've owned both, and really like both. Friedman is more the style I gravitate towards, but there's also something special about the slightly nasally quality that Splawn amps have. They cut through like a knife, but I've found they have a more limited speaker selection they play nice with. V30s are a...
