Re: Ibanez Tube Screamers ~ Differences

I agree the differences are subtle. They're mostly heard when you do the SRV thing through a cleanish Fender amp, but even then it's a very small difference. When you're boosting a high gain amp, the differences are very, very subtle, practically nothing IMHO. A bit less highs on the 808 but that's...

Re: Marshall CEO Guitar World interview

I hate corporations so much. I didnt watch the whole thing but from what i did he seems to say the right stuff. The underlying theme of any corporation is profit. even if the rep of the company goes down, if sales increase and there is more money made that is the direction they are going. But, If th...

Re: Marshall-cab back screws and washers

The tone is in the vintage screws and grommets. Does your cab have a center post? I added screw to mine because the back would whack into it. It took me way too long to figure out what that noise was as I chugged away.

Re: 80s MIJ Squiers?

I have played a few. All Strats though. If you play it and like it great. There was a time in the mid 80's that they were very, very good. They are heavy by modern standards. Pickups were mid but I'm not a Strat guy so I could be wrong. The guitars themselves were some of the nicest feeling necks I ...

Re: GASing for a Bassman

I've got a Blackface Bassman. AB165 that has been modded with the AA864 bias control. It came with a big 2X12 bandmaster cab. I still love it. My parents bought it at a yard sale with a lotus bass guitar for $50 bucks, in 1984. I have also had a few silverface ones and sold them. I really like the s...

Re: Let's talk about Destroyers

I have lusted for a Destroyer like the ones Dave Murray and Adrian Smith played in the Maiden videos for a long time, but prices are prices and its lust not love. Similar but not the same, Last year I got an Iron Label Iceman 7 string it has kind of calmed down the pseudo explorer gas.

These https://www.guitarfetish.com/Overwound-Set-Fits-Stratreg--Reverse-Wound-Black-BLOWOUT_p_575.html Not even GFS brand. They are just cheap pickups GFS bought to sell cheap. I have no idea what magic happened when these were made but if you want a beefy strat tone while still having actual strat ...

Re: I had practice with a Quad Cortex yesterday

I want to try a QC but have not had the opportunity. The videos sound good. I have a Helix and an FM3 already and i don't see a need right now. I treat any modeler like an added preamp for my amp. I like the option of using it direct but have never had too. Using it in 4CM with a single channel amp ...
