The 57 really is a great pickup. I will listen to this clip when I can on a good setup.

I am not going to lie, I was kind of underwhelmed by the SL-X. It sounded good, but the DSL is definitely better to my ears. I will take my Rivera amps with their British sound over the SL-X all day.

The only thing I would worry about is whether the tubes have been sorted through to remove the ones that are likely to fail. Hopefully PSVane is good at providing quality tubes. I have seen them being used a lot in the the HiFi world, so hopefully they are solid.

I pretty much stick to JJs, both pres and power tubes. I use a combination of their ECC803S, ECC83MG, and E83CC tubes. If I can get away with an 803 in V1, and definitely in the PI.
