Splawn because I still have a grudge against Friedman no matter how good his amps sound
Honestly though if this were me I’d be looking at a Ceriatone yeti/chupa/etc etc
I still need to try a Ceriatone of sorts. I’d love to play a Chupacabra.
What’s your grudge against Friedman lol? I’m just legit curious. No judgement.
I got the brown eye mod done to a 20 watt jet city when I was 16 or 17…. I posted gut shots of the amp on HCAF and then Dave Friedman sent me a bunch of super aggro PMs on rig talk talking all kinds of shit telling me he hoped my amp broke and he wouldn’t help etc. etc.
I felt real bad at the time and went back and deleted all the pics, but retroactively decided fuck that guy

What a dick bag! I get wanting to protect his work but he didn’t need to be an asshole about it. I’m sure if he would have just asked you’d have deleted the pics anyway.

Definitely.
Still kinda think gut shots are fair game… and I think DIYers gonna DIY anyway, probably not actually going to lead to any lost business
If someone’s that worried require an NDA for mods or goop it
His stuff does sound great and I did recently own a BE-OD for a little bit that was excellent lol

Yeah Dave got more chill with time. Back at HCAF there were some moments (remember the cash in chassis thread? Lol). But HCAF was pretty much 100% crazy all the time
I've had GAS for a Friedman BE50 Deluxe since playing one at GC a few weeks ago. It's voiced brighter than most other Friedman amps and has killer clean and dirty tones.

I am going to go with Friedman because it's closer to a hot-rod Marshall feel. The Splawns definitely get the Marshall tone but they feel different. They're tighter and stiffer. Almost like a cross between a Marshall and a Fryette. Both brands are great but Friedman is closer to Marshall IMHO.
Exactly what I was going to say. Splawns are definitely too tight and dry for having the hotrodded Marshall tone, IMO. Friedman amps are more my speed even though I find them a bit too polished. They're definitely fun to play.
I had a 2018 Quickrod 2 different times and never felt it to be too stiff or unforgiving. But mine was also fully loaded, and I regularly ran it in low B+ mode, so that could factor in. I thought it was a great sounding amp, but also not "otherworldly". To be honest, you'll get most of the same sound out of a DSL or SLX.
