New Drum library. First clip

Post by Endtime »

GGD drums do seem to work pretty well for me. In that I don't have a very powerful computer and their one kit wonder stuff is scaled back and does the trick o my computer with little issues. So while their newest kit is called Nu-Metal, which aint my thing, it is just about the tones.. And they sounded good.. So far this one DOES eat up some more CPU than their other libraries for me, but Ill just have to use some workarounds at times..

Here's the first clip. I basically just made a drum jam ad jammed out.. If others want, Ill upload the drum track..

For now, its the Beastly 6505, boosted with an SD1, Using my Baritone Strat I built with an EMG 81.. The ONLY guitar of mine thats ever had an 81 AND worked well with the 5150/6505. And Id argue it works BETTER than that and is absolutely crushing sounding..

Thanks dude . Yeah I like how they fit in the mix. Not sure they’ll be great for the fast shit.. yet. It may be awesome! The snare is a little deeper than I’d typically want for that but I’m not against blast beats with a low tuned snare! Haha.

And yeah, this guitar specifically might be my best recording guitar. It’s a 28.75 scale baritone. NEVER has an 81 Into a PV 5150/6505(the EVH5153 does pretty well) worked for me like some recordings have claimed over the years except THIS guitar. It literally sounds perfect for that low tuned shit thru the OG PVs.

Damn, that guitar tone is killer for this!
Drums sound cool too, but the guitar is so crushingly badass

I agree with you about the 81 usually not working with PV amps. That's the best I've heard from that combination, by far!!!!

interesting, im hearing the opposite, theres always a naturalness if thats a word and "weight" i dont normally hear with programmed drums in endtimes clips, these to me just sound a little thin and digital, the guitars are so thick and brutal though that maybe thats contributing factor :rawk:

The size of the guitars might be a factor! Lol. But still I’m surprised you are hearing it that way. It’s definitely one of the fatter kits I have. It’s definitely got that upper attack tho. That does seem to shine thru a lot, and I may have ate up some of the drums body with the guitars but again I just jammed this out right quick and went with what was feeling good. And what I felt I could get away with as far as the size of the guitars. I almost ALWAYS do the “Sneap” low mid compression trick for the low end and keeping it in check. But I didn’t here. I imagine that would help clear things up, but still with how it is on 3 or 4 different sources, I found the drums punched thru pretty good

listening again, i think the kick might be just a little bright for the pace of the song and how thick and dirty the guitars are, but thats really splitting hairs. are you talking about the C4 thing i think its called?? i have a preset i made in a multiband comp i know ive tried but havent really used much

No worries. Feedback is good. Just a little chat! Hah I can see what you are saying about maybe that top end brightness. It’s definitely a processed kick sound. But according to Nolly, who does all these, he claims there is no enhancement, like a one shot being added etc, and they are all 100% real hit drums.

Yeah I guess it’s the C4 that Sneap uses. I used my FabFilter ProQ3 and just using dynamic EQ, which is essentially the same thing. It compresses the area I choose. I’m not a huge chugger in the first place, but this little ditty definitely is chugging and in B flat… So it prolly would have benefited. But, also. Well first this track is just a throw away type thing Altho I might use the first two riffs to start a song. Maybe… But what I was gonna say is I also do appreciate when it’s TOO much. Whatver way I can add just a bit of ugliness inside a mix that is largely done with samples and DI bass and all that shit that has turned it all cookie cutter. Sometimes leaving that bit of “too much” which will eat up some drum tones and whatver else is certainly a practice I do to hopefully add a BIT of realism and old school vibe/sound…
