How's the CPU usage on GGD Contender? I'm putting together a shitty old laptop for direct recording at my other guitarists shop so could do with something light. I guess I could just export IR blends I like though and use any old loader? Does it have annoying drm?

It’s pretty light. Maybe with 6-7 instances and drum software running Kontakt and everything else I might run into a little cause my machine is underwhelming as well. But I never use that many and if I did I could just bounce a few tracks out of the IR and free up space that way

Good to kniw, thanks! I see it used ilok, whish is a bit of a pain in the ass. pluginsforest has a GGD IR pack with Cali oversized, contenders, goldstack ans zilla for £25, so I may as well pick it up at that price, once I've worked out if the site is legit anyway  :cop:

Such a badass feel to it!!

I didn’t see this originally. Cool man. Good ear. I. That you said sumthin about the ending. Cause I did have that part earlier I. The song. With the synth over it and when I added it to the end, it felt a little bare. But I didn’t want to solo over it. So I came up with just doing pinch harmonics in the low string to get close to the synth part. But I wasn’t moving my fret hand. Just changing where I hit the harmonic with my pick. So it’s not exact by any means but I found somethin in the realm so it adds that bit of extra sumthin to the synth!

And because no one asked. Here’s a version with the 5153 red channel same IRs. So it’s not much different at all.

Hah. But with that said, I bought their other IR plugins as well and honestly I wasn’t a big fan of em . NOlly does have really good ears for this kinda stuff but he didn’t have anything to do with the IR captures of the Contender series ones. An Italian fella did it all and GGD was basically the company the put it out and prolly made it all function within the plugin. Whereas the other GGD stuff prolly works in mixes well, it’s just flat and kinda uninspiring tones otherwise. The contenders has the most balls and LIFE in em of just about ANY IR, especially the GGD stuff. So my point is, just get that one if you can purchase one. The others are definitely not necessary. Plus the Contender pack has V30s, Greenbacks and Evh Celestion. So there’s plenty of options.

Hell yeah, this rules. Damn, didn't expect the cool atmospheric stuff from you, but it rips.
