Huge fan of morbid Angel. Also pretty big fan of the tone zone. Here’s both! This is sorta a weird era of Ma from which this song comes from. But MA is always unique and I sorta stumbled upon one of the riffs and next thing ya know….? I hit record

Yeah man I love the TZ. That and the Super 3 are my favorite DiMarzios for superstrats.
Clip sounds awesome. You nail these riffs and they're not fucking easy. I love Trey's playing, one of the most underrated metal players.

Many can’t get along with how BIG it can sound. It’s a weird thing in that it kinda has everything maxed out. And not in terms of output. But you really seem to get more Bass, more Mids and even more treble! Altho the treble is maybe on 8 instead of “maxed”. It’s just more of everything to some degree. And like I mentioned it works great with PVs and most other brighter, mid forward amps. I’m sure with some it can be a bit of a mess if one isn’t careful.
thanksman. And I do like the Super 3 as well. Altho if I had to which actually comes across as fatter at times it’s the super 3. Mainly cause the treble on that is generally pretty pulled back. Reminds me most of an 81 I. That regard where the treble is this sorta smoothed out sound. I know some think the 81 is bright and I’ve heard it that way too, but generally it’s kinda pulled back to my ears. Or really smoothed out.Guitarbilly wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:23 am Yeah man I love the TZ. That and the Super 3 are my favorite DiMarzios for superstrats.

And Trey is pretty well regarded in Death metal. He was basically THE dude for many years thru the 90s. And he’s honestly a brilliant songwriter. Some of his shit to this day are songs that painted pictures I haven’t heard other artists, especially in metal, do

Lol thanks.. I never had much interest in learning many MA songs despite being my biggest influence during my high school years which is when we REALLY start developing our sound. Well at least it was for me. But this song always had a weird vibe to it. And I sorta played sumthin that reminded of it and I went into learning it which is suprisingly simple for MA I’m that it only has 4 riffs. Altho, there are a TON of little things in that main riff where he’ll change it just a bit. I got some of it right and missed some. But that was the biggest thing for this was all the different inflections of the main riff he sprinkled thru-out. And this album does have a very odd mix but idk. It’s unique. And this song in general stands out even tho it’s relatively straight ahead. No one else would have written a song like this.

Totally agree. I got into Morbid when I was in junior high (Altars and Blessed) and Trey is something else. I thought you did awesome on your video! Shit was tight and risky grooving.Endtime wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:16 pmLol thanks.. Thanks dudes. Just having a little fun there.
In other Tone Zone “news”, lol. There is an old theory and it seems legit, that the actual EVH Musicman model, which if you don’t know came down to 2 choices. What became the Tone Zone and what was used InThe EVH. So they were In fact very close. With the Tone Zone having a hotter coil on the slug side. So it’s a slight mismatch, and the Musicman Dimarzio having evenly wound coils. And the theory is take 2 screw coils of the Tone zone and put them together and you’ll have the Musicman EVH Dimarzio. Well of course I did that cause I have a few TZ laying around. And I had the EVH dimarzios for a bit awhile ago and they were cool too but they aren’t some TOTAL magical pickup. It’s a little less output and slightly less bass Tone Zone. And for all intents, this does sound like a very EVH toned pickup. So I’m using that as well in a guitar and very happy with that too
