If you saw my other thread then you know I'm making a body to go with a mystery neck. I adjusted my design to match the scale length I measured but I also wanted to make a test mule as a gut check.
Does anyone use Mustang tremolos? This is the first one I've used and when I tuned the guitar to pitch the trem bottomed out, do you have to get strong springs for heavier strings? Doesn't really matter since I'm not doing any assembly or setup, just curious.
I only worked on a Mustang tremolo once and it was back in the 90s when one of my guitar students bought one because of Nirvana
If I remember correctly, the posts have several notches for different tensions, the closer to the edge of the posts you place them, the higher the tension. But it was so long ago, I don't even know if this is correct or if I am thinking of a different trem.
But you can buy higher tension springs these days,so that's definitely an option.
