I've been listening to The Clash's first album] on a CD with that was released as a "remastered" version from 2000.
That's about when the Loudness Wars started and "remastering" meant adding a Loudness Maximizer to the point where it created ear fatigue.
I finally found a used, earlier, pre-loudness wars copy and it sounds way better... less muddy and no ear fatigue!!!
