NPAD: Ghost Note Audio Vader 140

Post by zozobra »

As I mentioned in the RGX100 thread, I caved and bought the Vader 140 preamp from ghost note audio, and I sure am glad I did as it fucking rips. It's brutal as fuck even without a boost and it's plain ridiculous with a lil bit of hm2 blended in. This will be sick in parallel with my kartakou colossus.

I'll get some proper clips done later in the week, but here are some bullshit phone clips for now

What's the signal chain? Guitar > Vader 140 > HM2 > ???
RGIB6 > XP100 Whammy > Joyo Orthros in parallel blend mode (LS2 clone) > Orthros loop A: Behringer HM300; Orthros loop B: empty > Vader 140 > interface > GGD Contenders

The HM300 is set with the dist. at zero and everything else dimed - the level is set at around 9 o'clock on the Orthros loop A so it is just adding a little bit to the mix. Loop B is set just above unity for a slight boost but is otherwise just passing the input straight through to blend with the HM300. If you listen to the end of the 2nd clip you can hear there is just a lil bit of the HM300 on top of the clean/bypassed tone and that is all you need to add a bit of sizzle and grind. Next step is finessing the IRs in GGD contenders as I'm just using the ones I've set up for the unboosted kartakou colossus.

Sounds awesome. I see I'm not the only one that has to deal with the helper feline while playing guit-fiddles. LOL.

I'm gonna have to end up buying me some of these Ghost Note pedlulz. They all seem to sound so damned thick.

There is a reason I uploaded that video  it was half an hour past dinner time so this was his protest.

Absolutely buy one. I'm really happy with both of mine. He's put some thought into QoL features that add a lot of utility. The presence switch really helps add a bit of bite to the Vader. It would be too muffled without it for my tastes. The mid shift is subtle but could be great for double tracking.

Dude, I wouldn't dare miss a dinner time. My cats would slaughter me.

Granted, after dinner they're *GOING* to be in my lap. Whatever activity I may be trying to do.

The 8100 pre is calling to me. May have to grab one after the next quarterly bonus.
