Two Notes Reload II Announced

Post by fastredponycar »

Looks pretty slick! No cab emulation or IR loader is a bummer but the original Reload didn't have that either and they said they're aiming for a more simplistic/all analog solution. Gives the impression of something like a stereo solid state powerstation but with the capabilities of plugging into your DAW and doing other stuff too.

Their marketing guy said he's going to try and get a pre-release unit out to me to try out/review so whenever I get it, I'll definitely be back and let you guys know what's what but I think the dual/stereo fx loop and power amp could make for some really cool W/D/W stuff.

Interesting. I am surprised they didn't include an IR loader, since that's their bread/butter.

I guess the selling point is being stereo? That could be cool for some things, like W/D/W, but I am not sure how many people are actually doing that these days. With the Fryette being tube driven and the TAE having built-in effects and IRs, all in the same general price point as this... idk...

Yeah lots of people in the video comments for the product teaser trailer asking why no cab sim and their response is that basically it's meant to be a high quality stereo reactive load box without any digital stuff going on. Basically a true successor to the first Reload which was kinda the same thing.

They also are leaning pretty hard into the fact that it's the only load box on the market that has reactance that's approved or certified by Celestion... whatever that means but based on their replies to the YT comments, it wasn't easy to get that certification so my hope at least is that it feels really good to use like the Fryette and (from everything I've read) the Suhr reactive loadbox.

It looks like this does have built-in IRs via the cab sims on the front of the unit, and then the Gemone software that runs it also has an IR loader plus effects.

I'm eyeing this pretty hard given how much I love my Captor. The stereo power amp would finish off my W/D/W rig with the SLO :hmm:

I think the cab knob is just the cab volume? I don't see an USB port in it. Or are they doing bluetooth?

Nope, you're right those are just volume knobs

It does come with their Genome software but I guess that's similar to how the current WoS software works.

Apologies, I'm acoustic :o

yeah.... no cab sims in it... the Cab knob is the attenuator control and I believe the output control is for the built in amps...... basically this is a fancy reactive load with amplifiers built in so you could amplify your low wattage amps as well as

I get why they would do this. The original Reload is very well regarded as one of the best sounding and feeling load boxes out there. Why not update the original and try to retain that reputation? I definitely understand the complaints because you can get a lot more out of other options these days, but I see why they would go this direction with it, too.
I like 5150s. The rest of you bullshit amps can get fucked.

this is also a little more than a load box since it has an amplifier as well, so you can also use lower wattage amps and make them stage ready or run a W/D/W rig from it since it has it's own stereo FX loops...

That's the part that intrigued me. I've been looking at rack mount SS power amps, ala EVH, to run the 2 wet cabs, and this kinda makes it an all-in-one solution with the integrated stereo fx loop for the H90 :hmm:
