My UAD Volt started cutting out and crackling the other day. I tried all the basic troubleshooting, new cable etc to no avail, so I decided to buy a new interface.
Ended up going with the SSL12. I got it today and the first impression is REALLY good. The preamps sound great and it has a more more output (volume) than the UAD. Noise floor is considerably lower too.
Drivers were easy to install and seem to be rock solid even with low latency buffer settings.
I also really like the built-in talk back mic. I usually have Kimmi in a different room when I'm recording her vocals and this makes it a lot easier to communicate with her.
The 360 software is also great and allows for easy direct monitoring.
I'm going to start recording with it tonight and get a better feel for it but I'm very impressed so far.

Nice! That was one I was considering when I bought my RME.
I like 5150s. The rest of you bullshit amps can get fucked.

Cool. I eyeballed the SSL interfaces pretty hard when going through my recent interface upgrade. Hard to find any complaints about them.

I really like my UA Volt 476 but if it goes out I’m absolutely going to go with the SSL
Congrats on the new interface!

I loved the 476 while it was working. Great sounding interface. I actually liked it better than the Apollo Solo I had better because it relied less on software. It's just a straightforward interface with great sounding preamps.Vladimir Putin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 4:17 pm I really like my UA Volt 476 but if it goes out I’m absolutely going to go with the SSL

I recently picked up the smaller SSL 2+. Same experience as yours. It's solid.

RME Babyface is still going strong. I sometimes think about getting something new. But this thing has been pretty stellar.
