That guitar and amp are all I will ever need. Holy fuck I can't wait until this boogie box lands. That amp is fucking sex.

Bump

I finally got a review unit from Zzounds to try for a bit. It does the Marshall thing really really well.

Quick sound clip running it into the ox box with greenback cab model and the schecter C1 EA with the Pasadena and Pasadena Plus pickups.

Clip has the jackson audio golden boy clean boost engaged at first and then at 1:17, disengaged and volume 1 raised from about 3 o'clock to all the way up.

Yeah man it sounds great. I really like this amp. It would be on the top of my list to buy if I didn't already have the Super Lead.

Yeah it's gonna be hard sending this one back... I can't stop playing it.

It's strengths and weaknesses remind me of both why I loved and ultimately sold my Cieratione though. Amp sounds amazing but I really do need a loop (I know there's ways around this but I'd prefer it to be part of the amp) and the amp kinda really has one sound that it does really really well and for this kinda money, I'd like just a tad more flexiblity but that would I think sort of betray the vision that Dave had for this amp.

He makes other amps that have the same sort of vibe as this but with those extra features. I think that the Helios 50 is about as close to perfect for me it would be with this type sound/feature set. I just can't stomach another huge purchase right now LOL. That Mark VII hurt but every time I plug in, the pain goes away.

Yeah they're not meant to be flexible. But again that's debatable because you can use that one sound on Just about everything, with a boost depending on the style

But I get it about the loop etc. But as long as it's not your only amp

Ceriatones are great for 1/3 of the price though. But the Plex has a bit extra special. That pesky final 5%. Whether it's worth or not depends on the individual situation

Yeah I was always left wondering how much better my 100w Cieratone plexi would have sounded if it had Heyboyer or mercury transformers.

Bruce at Brit-Tone said he could throw some of the Heyboyers in but it wasn't going to be cheap. Even with the mods from Kurt at Granger amps, I think I was only in that amp for around $1600 total and if I paid for the better transformers I knew I wasn't going to see a dime of that return if I sold it so I passed and let it go.

yeah once you start modding it, it's best to keep it because you are not going to see that money back ever.

I don't think you need a full set of transformers though. The Power Transformer wouldn't make a huge difference IMHO. So it's only the OT.
