Embargo lifted and my feed is filled with youtubers videos of this.
Guess who didn't get one to review...
Wommp woooommmp
Whomever makes a non-rare (Goat, looking at you!) Distortion Generator or Sustainor will get my money. Not particularly interested in the X100 headphone amp thing.

Watching the Pete Thorn demo. Dudes' practically giddy over it. It's fun to watch even if I wasn't interested in the sound just for how giggle he is with it.

There’s about a dozen or so of these stacked up at the shop. I haven’t played it but I heard others try it out. I know the rock man stuff came a little before my time as a young guitarist in the late 80s, but I did play one as a kid. And it was the headphone “version” of such a thing and that seemed like the coolest thing to me. I don’t know if it’s just my experience but I thought that was the appeal back then?? For the regular guitarists. Anyway, I guess it sounds fine and does what the Rockman should do. But I don’t see anyone really gravitating towards that sound anymore. It’s nostalgia and maybe if they put a headphone jack on there it would have made a bit more sense. Otherwise this is one dated ass sound if I throw out my 2 cents

Well, they still make awesome pedals. I'm pretty sure most of my favorite pedals are smd now.
Fair and likely true based on demos. I was just pointing out that if they are smt/smd (or predominantly such), then they aren't exactly hand made. That is all.
I think SMD can be done very well. And yes you were correct in your assessment. A lot of PastFXpedals are mostly SMD but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. If they’re built well to begin with, they should be fine. If it’s cheap ass stuff that Joyo would reject but with 4x the price tag, well we got a problem lol.

They were referred to as being handbuilt.
Apparently you’re the only one hung up on this. I’m not.

Lmao, okay. I'm not hung up on it. Someone said it was handbuilt, which being mostly SMT, it is not. I was pointing that out, so excuse me for wanting it accurately portrayed what PastFX pedals are in case someone buys it expecting it to be purely through hole parts.

I still have my early 80's Rockman X100 headphone amp. Love the sound of it.

demo videos all dropped today! I watched RJ Ronquillo's video, I'll have to check out the Pete Thorn and Leon Todd demos.
On his Sunday stream, Pete Thorn mentioned how in 8 hours this video had an impressive number of views. Either the algorithm got it, or there really is that much interest.
