Rack power recommedations?

Post by Ledvedder »

Hey guys, I'm putting together a small rack (probably 6u) for a new PA system. Does anyone have any recommendations for power? Or are all those rack mountable power bricks/conditioners pretty similar?

They're all pretty similar. The Furman units have better shielding against RF interference, which can be important if you're running wireless devices.

Other than that, they're pretty much the same until you get to actual voltage regulators, which are considerably more expensive.

But for power conditioners, a Furman M8x2 should be enough, unless you want lights, voltage monitoring etc, but the actual power grid is the same on all of them.

I was just coming here to say get a Furman.... I use this one in my PA Rack

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... onditioner

that powers, 6 EV ELX15s, my router and Midas MR18 with no problems.... I've even run a pair of smaller Yorkville 15" subs with 4 of my EVs on it no problem
I can't remember what my signature was..... I'm sure it was something interesting..... :quote:

Get some 1 or 2 foot IEC power cables too.
It will keep the back of your rack neater.

Does Furman offer something M8x2 like, but for the floor? I have pedalboard power supplies, and running those up the side of the cabinet wouldn't be ideal.

Yes it's the SS6B-Pro.

I ordered one for $50. I was just using a chintzy one previously. Hopefully the SS6B Pro will be safer for my gear.
