Another cool live vid of our last show

Post by Endtime »

A place called Reggies in Chicago is likely one of the best venues in the entire city. It has basically 2 stages. The Big side, which of course we’d always like to play. This is where Kerry King debuted his new band to give an idea of its size and capabilities. Played on that side a bunch. But they’ve gotten pretty big and they don’t always put on a show on that side if they don’t believe in the turn out! We’ve played over there to 300 people last year but we weren’t headlining and it was with some other known cover bands..

The small side is no slouch tho. It’s actually a fun stage and while the audio in this vid is not good, too compressed and low end is distorting, in the room they do a great job. All the bands really sounded phenomenal. So while the audio isn’t great I think if you listen on your phone it’s fine since all that low end being blown out isn’t as apparent. And as you can see it’s a great vibe and look in there. I do t know why they bring out a pro camera crew for us, since we got one from the “big side” last year but we have some more great footage. This was my buddy, who also happened to be the promoter, birthday show. And he wanted all old school. We played one song of Seasons, War Ensemble. And everything else is from early. So basically all 80s set. I loved it. And watching it back it’s a great setlist to me!! I doubt any of you will spend an 1:40 watching the entire thing! Hahah. But we had a blast and it don’t feel like 100 minutes..

I used the 6505 boosted with Guv’nor thru my cab I made micing a g12m-65 Creamback. Other guitarist uses is Flextone. Lol. As usual I dominate the rhythms, which is good. But that line 6 cuts thru for solos really well. And that’s good too.

So I’m gonna Barry Horowitz and pat myself on the back for my guitar change mid song during the end of Altar of Sacrifice into Jesus saveS. So Altars starts at 1:04:30 approx. it’s only a few minutes long. So I get the end solo of Altars which has an ending LONG dive bomb that basically leads into Jesus Saves. I also play the beginning of Jesus saves. Anyway The end solo starts at 1:06:40 if ya can’t listen to a whole song. Haha. So I popped the string in the final big bend and usually I’d cut it and switch it out but I realized it’s just a big dive slow dive bomb I’ll just drop it on the floor and let it feedback and that gives me abojt 7-8 seconds to get my other guitar and quickly change the cord and no one would know I switched guitars!

I thought it was kinda quick thinkin on my part lol

Here does this link work??

Yeah, this venue seems rad! I can see what you mean about in the room it's great, but the low end in the videos is blown out a bit. I've experienced this in a lot of venues, too, and having used various cameras for our shows over the years, I find the stupid ass iphone does the best with compressing it so the blown out sounds don't happen. So dumb. But regardless, this is killer footage to have! And does still sound good.
I like 5150s. The rest of you bullshit amps can get fucked.

Thanks man! That song goes over pretty well. Better than I thought it would tbh. It’s pretty much a mainstay.

this is actual audio from the board and also a little from the room I can hear . I’m not sure why it’s so compressed besides this is a small room. To the point if you are running sound you are definitely mixing from the monitors AND the actual stage sound. Cabs, drums etc. bleeding over. So I can see them compressing the hell out of the PA/board mix as a way to blend in with the actual live sound. Almost like a parallel compression. Maybe.? Lol. Just a thought. It’s a great venue and we got footage from last year in the big stage and this year in the small. So we get pro video footage from playing there which is def a bonus!
