Anyway, I just ordered 4 Redbacks from Sweetwater. They should be here on Thursday. 150w per speaker that should work.
I ran 2 Bogner quads with all Redbacks and a 100 watt Helios. At first I really dug it, but after a while I was missing some of the cut you get with V30s. I had some Creamback 75's lying around, so I mixed them in diagonally. That really brought it back to life.
I think you might want to keep 2 V30's in the mix with redbacks. Because how often are you really gonna run that super lead wide open?
I don't mix speakers on cabs I use live because the soundguy usually only mics one of them and it's harder to get a good reference for what's going to the FOH vs what's coming from the cab with the mixed speakers. I'm going to give the Redbacks a go first. If that doesn't work I will probably jmove the redbacks to my home/recording cabs and just go back to 4 V30s. I think what happened was a freak accident. I also just ordered a Fryette Power Station so I will have a lot more control of the volume.

I hear you. But live I would always mic the V30 anyhow...tried & true.
Yeah I'm beginning to think the Redbacks were an impulse buy
They haven't shipped yet so I think I'll cancel it and just replace the 2 V30s, the more I think about it, the more I think it was a freak accident. A quad of V30s should handle this amp just fine. Maybe these 2 were a bad batch or something....

Yeah, it was probably a fluke but speakers can blow. If anything is gonna do it, it would be a full tilt super lead. Hell, I've seen speakers blow and then take out an amp's transformer quickly from the sudden ohm disruption.
Buying Redbacks could solve a wattage issue, but it would be a different tone for sure. Since you know you like the tone thru V30s, I think you made the right move with getting a Fryette PS.
