Too scooped and metal sounding for what I do. My music is closer to AC/DC and EVH than to Godsmack lol

Oh for the record I'm not bashing Godsmack lol
I actually think that guy gets an awesome tone out of his Rectifier. I'm just saying it's not what I'm after.

based on your band, I can't see a Recto working out super well

I prefer Rectos when I'm tuning down to like C... something about that setup just slaps.

I saw your FS post on the Recto and wondered what happened to it. EVH is HUGE. Lordy!

Since I assume you still have a DSL, maybe you’ll run into a killer deal on a Diezel VH4, take it to practice once, and flip it for a mint Les Paul with a factory-installed Kahler.

Our gear acquisition dreams are fulfilled vicariously through you.

I took it to practice yesterday and it went really well. I found a picture of Eddie's amps and copied his settings almost exactly, except I used less gain on the Red channel. Worked out well, definitely a much better match for me than the Rectifier. I will use on this Sunday's gig and I'll post some videos.

I know I always complained early on about these amps. They don't have the same aggression level as the Peaveys, but they sort of addressed that with the Stealth versions.

But then I go to Philly and play through my buddy's with the matching 212 (which he bought the head and cab from Joe Balaguer for $1300!), and it just fucking sounds great haha. I think having some time-distance from the Peaveys adjusted my perspective a bit. But yeah...really great amps. They're all really great.

And yes, while the 50 is very good, the 100 watt is in a totally different league. Like a Metallica show vs a Metallica tribute show. Both can be fun, but they are certainly on a different level and scale.

Also, the OG 50 watt is the best one. I recently compared a 50s and OG 50, and the OG 50 gets closer to the 100 than the 50s does.

BUT STILLL...NOT THE SAME!!! If you love the 50, the 100 will sky rocket you to the fucking moon.
I like 5150s. The rest of you bullshit amps can get fucked.

yeah I agree with all of this. The OG 100w is indeed less aggressive than pretty much every other 5150 variation out there (evh and peavey), but they have a great tone with less mid honk than the Peavey.

I think for hard rock, the OG is ideal. since the blue channel is more plexi-ish. But The Stealth combines the EVH tone with the Peavey aggression so it's definitely the one to own for metal.

I haven't tried the 100 EL34 yet. I am very curious about it.

As for 50w vs 100w, yeah I like the 50w a lot, but the 100w is indeed much fuller and better. I think that goes to pretty much every 50w vs 100w amp out there. I am coming to the conclusion that I just prefer 100w amps overall.

Well, except for the 50w Plexi. The plexi has no master volume so that kind of changes things a bit since it takes off at 2 on the volume

But for regular, master volume amps, I can't think of a single one that I like the 50 over the 100.

Good trade, I've heard a single rectifier sound amazing.

I've never once enjoyed a double or triple of any kind.
