I had a bunch of parts, a pickup and a preamp laying around so I bought a used Warmoth neck and cut a body out of some insane poplar a buddy gave me. The bass came out pretty great. Sounds excellent and is very balanced across the strings and the neck. I'll post a clip later.
I probably won't hang onto this one long, I don't need another bass. I was just sick of having a ton of bass parts kicking around
My original plan was for a 3 ply black guard but I had this cream plastic laying around. What are the thoughts? Should I switch it around?

Damn, that's a gorgeous hunk of wood. What type of tone that producing? Growly, thumpy, smooth?

It sounds like a Stingray bass. Probably because of the Stingray pickup and preamp
(It sounds very good)

Perfect as is. I have a soft spot for poplar, and that’s the prettiest ive ever seen.

Skills. I don't have those. Much respect! I would like to see the black guard to make an opinion, but black is my vote so far.

Beautfiul. Cream guard is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.
