I couldn't help myself and bought a Stomp Under Foot Violet Menace. Last month I bought the red menace. Playing them side by side through a strat, I found them to be pretty similar but found that the violet had more sustain in the notes, more balanced overall and smoother. Both sound great, but I do prefer the violet over the red, so it sits on my board, for now.

He had a crazy double violet pedal going for a bit. Two violet menaces one stacked into the other in one pedal. I love Matt’s stuff. I’m guessing with the Red Menace the gain is closer to the Red Army but the high end is more triangle since he blended circuits. With the Violet Menace, being a ram’s head with mids it has more gain and sustain. Which checks. My Astoria has more gain than my Red Army. My EQD Hizumitas has the most out of all 3 (modified Triangle/ELK BM Sustainar clone). Part of me really wants a Civil Unrest to get that kind of Russian Muff sound but with a mid control.

Funny enough, if I buy another one, it would be the Civil Unrestgreatmutah wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 10:31 pm He had a crazy double violet pedal going for a bit.
