I pulled the trigger on one of these yesterday. Vasily was happy to accept an offer he'd made on reverb during the Black Friday sale he had on and the exchange rate had wiggled the right way so it was time to pull out the cheque book and buy one of these motherfuckers It should go in the mail today and will arrive soon hopefully.
I have been super intrigued by one of these ever since Raf posted about them years ago. The Fiddy is the exact base tone I need for what I'm doing right now. I'm so fucking stoked for this! I've somehow never owned a 5150
I was in doom bands for years, so a fiddy didn't really fit. My current thing is a blend of sludge, chaotic hardcore and caveman death metal, so this is just the ticket.
Plan eventually is to pick up a 2 or 3u rack bag and slap a Palmer macht in for a light weight power house. We're in A standard and I occasionally use a whammy pedal down a 4th to drop to E, and that will be the death of a tube power amp
I’ve soft looked at these for years. I’ve never owned an old school 5150 but know you kind of HAVE to have one of the variants.
Bought a 5150 III Stealth 100 and fucking hate it. Can’t give the thing away! Lol! This preamp seems cool though. I think head had a few variations of it.

Shit man! I can’t even get this sold for $1450 locally! I’ll bring it to FL when I move back in two weeks and sell it to you for a steal! lol!

Where in FL are you headed?
We bought a house in Flagler Beach so just a little north of Daytona. Right near where we used to live. We sold our house in Vegas much faster than we anticipated so 2 weeks ago had to fast quick fly out and find a house! lol.
We’re literally a 5 minute drive to the beach which is nice. Just me and the wife. Kids are out of the house so that’ll be interesting. My work is fully remote so the cost of living makes way more sense for us and now my wife can early retire.
Nice! Yeah makes a lot of sense. Crazy you were able to find something so fast. Lots of migration into Florida the last handful of years, but I guess probably not really Flagler beach. My sister lives in ormond, and we’re about an hr or so from there.
