I don't think I've expressed my once-in-a-while appreciation for Queensryche's "Operation: Mindcrime" on this iteration of the forum.

My tastes have considerably changed since I saw them open up for Metallica in 1989, but every time I revisit this album I am utterly blown away - 35 years later! I feel that this is the pinnacle of something. Can't say of what, but there must be something to it that the person I am now still thinks this is so incredible!

Mindcrime is top tier Queensryche. If there’s only one album by then you listen to, Mindcrime is the one. I should put that on soon.

My favorite thing about Queensryche is that Dave Mustaine talked shit about them in Guitar World...

Then lifted the main riff for a song on Risk. Lmao!

Operation Mindcrime is awesome. I used to have Operation Livecrime on VHS, and was my first exposure to them. I really enjoy Rage for Order and the EP as well. Empire is pretty good as well. Regardless, once DeGarmo left, the band was pretty much awful. Same is true of Def Leppard when Steve passed away.

Saw them in Seattle on New Years Eve during that tour. Truly epic.

Yeah it's a great album. I was a huge fan until Empire and completely lost interest after that. I've rarely seen bands decline so fast after such an amazing string of albums.
Some of the stuff with the new singer is okay but nothing like the period up to Empire.

Mindcrime was on heavy rotation to me at the time of its release. I’m fact. I KNOW in 1988, for my birthday I got a low end Walkman. Back when they were like $29 or sumthin. But to me as a 10yo, it was the coolest shit in the world to listen thru headphones for the first time. And the VERY first album I listened to on that Walkman was Operation Mindcrime. I loved that album even back as a 10 yo, and then as I got older and understood all the lyrics and the story/message. Man, timeless and the lyrics are totally relevant today. Maybe even MORE so. Metal, and musicians in general, need to go back to thinking like this album! Haha. I never stopped. But damn, does it feel like the opposite today. Especially after so many revealed themselves during the BS from a few years ago.

I want to say I love Queensryche, but really I love Operation Mindcrime and and couple of their big hits. It's one of those albums that if someone puts it in their top 10, you can't really argue against it.

Rage for Order, Mindcrime and Empire is a killer trio of awesome records. Between those 3, my favourite changes regularly

Queen of the Reich, Take Hold of the Flame, Eyes of a Stranger, Jet City Woman, Another Lonely Night, Silent Lucidity are worth special mentions as well.
