NAD

My cousin's amp returns!! Well, not the EXACT one, but the JP2C. I felt like I never should've sold it, but I had to, but I am glad to have one back.

Of course, GC had to pack it pretty poorly, so this happened.

I requested a refund for the cost of new tubes and to get it checked out by a tech. It does seem to be noisier than it should be. I would suspect a preamp tube, but probably worth getting it looked at anyway. But aside from the noise and tube damage, the amp looks and sounds great!

I like 5150s. The rest of you bullshit amps can get fucked.

Nice man!!! Between this and the 5153, you have the staples of modern metal tones.

And you and I both know this is is not going to get looked at by a tech but I fully support the refund request because fuck GC sending expensive amps packed like shit.

Hahahaha yeah you’re right. It won’t be. But they at least owe me a new set of tubes. They for sure need to start packing shit better. Ridiculous.

nice.... the JP-2C is probably the only Mesa post the Mark III I've spent time with that I like.... tons of gain but never comes off as over compressed
I can't remember what my signature was..... I'm sure it was something interesting..... :quote:

Man I forgot how good this amp is! Sounds killer. Maybe this one has a problem, possibly due to shipping. There’s some ungodly noise that I can’t get rid of. I’m taking it to practice today to make sure it’s not my environment, but I may need to try to exchange it with GC. But yeah, it’ll be sticking around for sentimental reasons at least, but also just sounds so goddamn good. Just maybe not this particular unit. Fucking GC.

I changed all the tubes in the amp. First went through preamp tubes one by one, no change. Swapped the power tubes, no change. Swapped all preamp tubes, no change. Cleaned the jacks, checked the cables, everything Bill and I could think of last night. No change. Noise gate kills all the noise for the most part...not entirely, as you can see...but close. So likely something in the preamp, but doesn't seem tube related.

So clearly I missed the time you off’d the Mark 7. Lol.

But yeah this sounds like an issue in the earliest part of the preamp. Altho I suppose it could be everywhere but I heard it even on the clean channel. If you have De-oxit go Thru and clean all the sockets. Maybe retension them, or just look at each socket and make sure each little individual pin socket is aligned. Sometimes those little tabs get bent slightly one way or another and the pin of the tube actually goes AROUND the center and while I guess it’s still in contact with that pin, I found one like that on my xxx recently which I had Swore something was off for honestly like 2 years, lol. It wasn’t always something I felt was off, and the amp still worked but I went thru and did what would be a clean and service recently on that amp and it’s been back in tip top shape. It really did make a difference… Never know… otherwise it does appear you are gonna be back on the GC Russian roulette. And from my experience they won’t offer you any discount. Lol. Maybe in the case of a busted tube Altho I could see them denying it still. They’ll just say return it. Ha. I love the corporate mindset. That was sarcasm. Lol. Cause while a broken tube is an easy fix, I think they’ll say something along the lines of “altering” the amp and voiding the 45 day guarentee…

I will give that a try!

GC is actually sending me a new set of Mesa tubes for the whole amp for no cost and gave me a partial refund. So o plan to use that to get it looked at if I can’t get rid of the noise myself.

Yeah the VII went away when I got the EVH again lol. Too many modes and stuff going on. I actually am preferring the JP, largely because of the shred feature lol. And the 2 EQs. Like the features more vs the VII.
