I'm Not a Fan of The Dollar Shave Club

I'm not a fancy shaver like some of yous guys, but I'm trying out some new brands and it appears my skin and whiskers do not like Dollar Shave Club razors. It seems the angle of them are too flat and doesn't allow a good pull. I never noticed it with Schick, Henry's, or Gillette.

Should I bite the bullet and learn to use a straight razor?

Try safety razors , I made the switch about 4 years ago and have not gone back. Blades are so much cheaper and I’ve been using a Van Der Hagen handle I bought at target for about $15
I’ve nicked myself about as often as I have when I used to use the Mach 3 razors

Van Der Hagen handle is cheap and readily available and it can easily be your daily driver, as far as shaving goes. Also should point out this guy:

It’s $20 and it’s great. I love mine. Not super aggressive either. Buy some good blades (tons of options, Personna, Gillette, Feather) and you’re in business. Regular shaving cream works fine. I’m not big on the shave gels and never have been.

I don't know anything about shaving. I buy whatever shaving cream and razors are on sale at the grocery store and just use that. Never had an issue :idk:

i bought a bunch of blades 3 years ago directly from the manufacturer who supplies Dollar Shave Club (Dorco), eliminating the middleman, for super cheap.

now they no longer sell direct (only on Amazon), and they don't sell the 2-blade cartridges i like anymore. i shave my head, and 6, 7, 15, etc. blade razors don't work well for that - they're too fucking big for tricky head shaving and the blades are too close together on gazillion-bladed razors and get clogged up easy.

i do still have enough blades to last me another 3 years, though lol

The Canadian Tech is a fantastic razor!!! Gillette Platinum blade... 10/10

Hadn’t shaved since before we went to Disney two weeks ago. Got one in today. The soap is something my wife found on Etsy. It smells like coffee and oranges. I dig it. Kinda smells like that orange hand cleaner soap found in most auto shops. Good whiskey scented aftershave and the trusty SLOC. 10/10.

Also busted out the clippers and took off the bottom innch and a half of stuff on my beard. Got what’s left back to one decent level.

If you have never tried a straight razor, I suggest you do it once or twice. Can always go back to mach 5s or whatever. I didn't know I had irritable skin until I used a straight razor and my neck has thanked me ever since.

I followed Broslinger's advice and got a shower mirror. Saved me a lot of time.
