I got this WAZA SD1 a bit ago, and its easily become my favorite boost. Works with all my amps. Especially well with the evh el34 100 watt.

So I was just jamming and came up with a Helmet riff.. Maybe I just copped it.. Not sure. lol.. But I wrote a few more in that style since Helmet is a band I actually dig a lot.. Some of the albums anyway.
One clip is with the IRs.. Just cause that's how I started writing.. And then I quickly mic'd my cab with the EVH Celestions. I used a 58 tho. Found one at the shop awhile ago and borrowed and never used it yet.. Figured Id see how that goes. Wouldn't say its my fave.. But both clips is the EVH el34 100 blue channel boosted with the WAXA SD1.. Which one you like best? Or which oe is the mic vs IR? You pick the game you wanna play.. lol

Man, that is tough to decide which is IR and which is a mic.

On one hand, the first one seems more mix ready. However, the high end on the second one seems less "micd" if that makes sense. So fuck this game hahaha

They both sound great. I might lean toward the first one a bit.

Hah you were kinda on the right track. But then sorta talked yourself out of it. 1st is the mic. I totally hear the 57/58 “tone” in that clip. This is an old 58, so I had some thought it be a little less of that nasal mid. But it might be more!

2nd is the contenders. Which are generally pretty thick and while they’re not dark, they have a lot of smoothin in the highs to me

I was leaning towards the 1st being the mic, which it is, but honestly I was not completely sure. Both these clips sound really good and I don't think I'd be able to tell if I wasn't specifically listening for it. I usually listen to the high end to pick out digital, but this IR don't have that typical digital high-end. It sounds really good.
The first clip has a more organic tone though. It's hard to describe but still...

Yeah these contender IRs are simply the best I’ve heard. Been using them and not really mixing lately, myself. But I do need to bust out the 57s and fredman clip and mess around. Been a while.

Damm both sound good, not sure which is which. What are you using for drums and bass?

Nah I hear what ya mean. I know in a mix it’s pretty tough. But there is always sumthin in the high end of IRs although these might be purposely “smoothed” in that region. They are great sounding tho.

The GGD Brutal kit… Become my defacto. I like it. It’s a bit trashy. At first I felt the cymbals were too thin and too much sizzle, but I don’t even really think about it now. For bass I broke out my Tech 21 Steve Harris pedal!! Haven’t used it in awhile. It gets great “clank “ although I tried to tone that down a touch here

Ha cool. I like the brutal kit too but I need to mix my guitars for it differently and I haven’t figured out how to make them mesh in a way I like yet. But I haven’t spent a lot of time with it yet either. Still using the metal kit most of the time.

they both sound good, would never know that was an IR if not told. i think the IR might actually sit a little better in this one to be honest
