My nephew is interested in playing guitar. I have a mini guitar already I can lend him but I know he'd have more fun with it if he has an amp.
What's the best mini amp out there? I'm think maybe one of those 9V Marshalls would be the move.

Laney makes some that are actually pretty decent sounding. I've got a pair of them in different places in the house. They sell 'em as a ministack, 4x3 config. About $150 new, or you can grab 'em used for around $120.

I got my son a Yamaha THR10X, and he loves it. Easier for him to move around than the EVH LBX/112 rig he has.

Katana Mini is great. I have one on my workbench to test out pickup changes etc. It sounds good and it's really cheap, I paid 80 bucks for mine lol but I think the regular price is $99. So if he doesn't stick with it, it's not a big investment. But it has nice clean and drive tones with a little delay for leads.

Hotone Ampero Pulze is my new livingroom amp.
pros: very small, not too loud, doubles as a Bluetooth speaker, app control, headphone jack
cons: maybe a little complicated for a 5yo, but they could grow into it
i'd say a Peavey VIP1/X1, but they can actually get fairly loud. not sure you'd want to trust a 5yo that kind of volume LOL

Five-years-old? Marshall MG10. Clean and distortion only, nothing else to distract the kid from learning to play. $50 max, used; I got mine for $15 (the Marshall badge costs more than that, teehee).
I never had any luck with 9v-battery-powered amps - only when Iām truly desperate or just need to hear a signal.
At five-years-old, I would even consider a ukulele. They can play and sing really easily and early which is a great motivation booster. Work the kid into guitar, preferably with a small one at first.
Good luck.

Maybe look for the old school Fender H.O.T. amp. It's 3 channels and has a 10" speaker.
