Score! Going way back with these preamps!

So the Piranha I ordered a good while ago and in tru Jer fashion, it’s been in the shipping box in a closet for like 7 months. I got the Prophesy II about a week or so ago. Both were pretty dirt cheap and I’ve wanted each one for ages.

I gotta say, they both sound killer! The 4 “amp modes” on the Prophesy were designed by Bruce Egnater and are based off the 4 channels of the IE4 preamp.

The key to both of these are the added EQ adjustments. On the Prophesy there’s 2 bands of para EQ then Graphic EQ as well, and on the Piranha you can choose your mids frequency then boost or cut that.

I didn’t know Bruce worked on the prophecy. Cool

Both these preamps are great.
And Jer, you've been on an epic gear run for a while, man!! I'm living vicariously through you

I still want the Prophesy!

Is the EQ section like the Chameleon where you have a pre and post eq? Also, does that preamp come with a tube in it?

Sweet. About twice a year or so I get a hankering for one of these old preamps. Thus far, it's never worked out to where I have extra spending cash when I see them available. It's cool there are still other fans of them out there. :thu:

I got a Piranha in the 90s but sold it in the 2000s because I mostly used a Sansamp PSA-1. The circuit board in the Sansamp fried not longer after I sold the Piranha. I wonder what I would think of the Piranha now. :hmm:
