New factory modded Marshalls
I am not a huge fan of the Andertons channel but at least they had the Marshall rep play and he's a good player.
The amp sounds very good. It's crazy that it took Marshall 40 years to do this. It is such an obvious product choice for them.

Re: New factory modded Marshalls
It’s too bad they come in MORE than a Bogner Helios and almost as much as a Friedman BE100.
I don’t even need to hear the demos to realize there’s no point to a modded reissue at $3700

This. There are plenty of options out there for less money.Vladimir Putin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:24 pm It’s too bad they come in MORE than a Bogner Helios and almost as much as a Friedman BE100.

Yeah. The Suhr SL too. I guess most of their sales will be in Europe where the situation is reversed and the US made amps cost a lot more than the Marshalls. Here they will have tough competition in this price range.Vladimir Putin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:24 pm It’s too bad they come in MORE than a Bogner Helios and almost as much as a Friedman BE100.

If you're spending that much, and your budget has a little flex room (say $4200 or so), then you have just about anything at your disposal for filling that void. Hell, you could get a Plexi style amp and a Mr Scary mod for a lot less cash than the Marshall modded 1959.Guitarbilly wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:35 pmYeah. The Suhr SL too. I'm not gonna spend that coin, but I actually liked the sound of the 800. They did a nice job with that.
They didn't have things sounding as good for their Plexi. I feel like I could've made it sound better. I wouldn't have used V30s for sure.

Re: New factory modded Marshalls
yeah I have exactly that setup here. a 1977 Super Lead and the Mr Scary Mod. I like the mod but honestly, I don't use it all that much and prefer to just put a SD-1 in front of the amp.Spaced Out Ace wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:37 pm

I am interested in the 800 but the price is steep indeed. Still, I might end up doing it, especially once they start hitting the used market.

Used market would be the only way that I would buy one of those. Even then, would have to be a fire sale to get the price where it should be for me.

Re: New factory modded Marshalls
yeah it all depends on whether Marshall will be able to normalize US distribution. If they can, and the amps are widely available again, I think with time we would see then under $2k in the used market. If the distribution remains scarce then the used amps will probably be close to new prices.

A Guv'nor, Rat, SD-1, TS9/808, Klone, Bluesbreaker, etc. are obviously options and cheaper than the Mr Scary Mod. I just mentioned the Mr Scary Mod if someone had to have a tube gain stage.Guitarbilly wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 7:37 pmyeah I have exactly that setup here. a 1977 Super Lead and the Mr Scary Mod.
