turns out, my interface can't do the proper routing for capturing (feedback loop) and after talking with a few others, they had problems with their interfaces too. Seems like one of the M-audio units and the focusrite interfaces also struggle with routing.

Sooo, I coughed up another $300 for an IK media interface JUST for captures. It's out for delivery so hopefully I can mess around with that this weekend.

The headaches trying to get all this shit workign and connected only makes me appreciate the Nano Cortex that much more. For capturing amps, it solves literally all the problems and makes it effortless to capture amps.
Which interface did you get? I have the original axe I/o but the amp out is not 1:1 like they claim it's about 3-5db less on gain. I would say test that out first and be prepared to send it back.

Yeah the 2 mic input unit. I think the Axe I/O.

Which interface did you end up moving on to?

I havent i just dont bother with the amp out feature. When you get yours im curious if you have the same problem, I bought it when it first launched so I have no support with it. They just claimed i was wrong and quoted the documentation that said its 1:1.

would their re-amp box between the interface and the guitar amp solve this? I have that thing too.

That is a good question but I doubt it will. I'm kind of hoping they had an undisclosed hardware issue they fixed and yours is going to be fine.

Been using the software and I definitely like it. Probably the best amp Sims I've used although I've never tried Nueral or a lot of the other new ones.

Definitely acceptable for demo recordings.

So I stumbled onto this while trying to figure out how to download the damn drivers and they figured out what's going on with the amp output lower level thing.

I'll be using an A/B switcher for sure to make sure that either I have the amp out level set properly or just use one of the line out connections.

Also yeeaaahhhh screw IK for gatekeeping the software behind registration and making you pay a registration fee if you're buying 2nd hand. These aren't high dollar units :wank:

dude on page 2 posted the drop box zip file with the latest mac and windows drivers.

Where are you guys getting the IRs?

Ive yet to pay for 3rd party "amps" on tonex but there's tons of free stuff on there. I bought the full tonex software when it was on sale but now I'm struggling to find good IRs for cabs

I bought my first Tonex after not loving the IR-X and wanting to be able to capture my modded ADA MP1 to use live without dragging an aging rack unit. My captures are really close to the sound and feel of the original rack, but those third-party captures from groups like Amalgam, The Studio Rats, Worship Tutorials are just next level.
When the effects sections become slightly more mature, I think I could probably use it standalone. The mod effects are great. I especially enjoy the rotary. The delays and reverbs are good as is, but I would love to see a cathedral reverb setting and maybe a dual delay. The only complaint I have is the Tonex noise gate. I am just so used to the helix noise gates just working how I expect it to.
I thought the gate worked for me. Hard to differentiate digital vs real gear to me but the gate was pretty simple and effective. Not sure where the gates come from or how to swap them, they were just already in the capture I chose.

Ive been looking into 3rd party stuff, ive seen the name Amalgam all over regarded as the best, I think I checked it out and it was mostly rock stuff.

Do you guys know any high quality 3rd party places for brutal death metal type of amps for tonex?

Jarrod from Tonewars has some pretty good high gain captures.

I really like the ML-soundlab IR's but I also have some ownhammer IR's that are great too.
