That's kinda what I did for my son when he decided to learn bass. I got him an used GK 400RB head and 4x10 cab. He was 12 at the time and had the biggest rig among all his friends. :lol: I got it for peanuts at the L.As CL, I think it was 300 for the whole thing (in 2012).
I figured that if he didn't stick with it, it would be a great bass rig for me to keep for myself anyway.

Funny thing is he still uses that exact rig today (he's turning 25 this year). He never outgrew it or needed anything else. Great sounding rig and rock solid. So there's something to be said about getting it right the first time around.

Check out the positive grid spark also. I've heard good things about it.

My 10 year old has my old Yamaha THR10 in her bedroom. It's pretty good but not near as flexible as the spark.
Too much junk to list with 255 characters. :facepalm:
