It's amazing how far a band can get off of one good album, and several struggle bus albums that can't complete with the first record.

Yeah even one song will do it sometimes. There are bands out there with long careers out of a single hit.Spaced Out Ace wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 9:48 pm It's amazing how far a band can get off of one good album, and several struggle bus albums that can't complete with the first record.
I am a big fan of Cinderella (I like all four records, but if I had to choose a "least favorite," I guess I'd go with Heartbreak Station), though I need to dig into LA Guns more. I like Tracii as a player more than Slash, though. Tracii's attitude is better than Slash's as well. The smugness and revisionist history from Slash is just offputting. Plus, I think it's hilarious he's on an ongoing reunion tour with someone he used to talk so much shit about because his ex wife gutted his bank account.macaronisalad wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:24 am The LA Guns are a band that I always feel like I should like more but they just don’t push me...Over The Edge...
The 3rd album, Hollywood Vampires I like, and a couple songs off each of the ones before.
Cinderella is similar for me, I should like them on paper, but it just doesn’t connect that well.
Tracii however I think is a great player, and per the recent tone talk episode he is pretty jovial. I get the impression that money was never going to be an issue for him, so he doesn’t mind being “second tier”
The origin is definitely a usable NMV Marshall for sure. A lot closer to the SV20 than Marshall wants people to know lol!Guitarbilly wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 9:56 pmI don't think the Origin is crap. I think it's a misunderstood amp and that's Marshall fault. This is pretty much a simple, old school circuit so they shouldn't have put a master volume or effects loop in it, because it only detracts from the tone and causes user error. But once you wind it up, it sounds like a good Marshall should. Pretty remarkable for the price actually.Spaced Out Ace wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:41 pm Congrats, Tracii! The biggest pile of crap from Marshall in the past five to ten years sounds good in the video.
Just to spark some controversy: Tracii > Slash
The only way they could've really doubled down on the fr00t and embrace the "white" of the 80s would to name the band "Snow White"Guitarbilly wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 3:23 am I love Cinderella. I think they suffered from the band name being so gay lol. But they were a great hard rock band. Tom Keifer is a great singer.
LA Guns is cool. I like most of their albums. I think Tracii is an underrated player. Very strong, clean right hand. One of those guys that make anything sound good.
But I love Slash. He really stood out from all the shred in the 80s. One of my all time favorites.
All these bands had a ton of drama over the years but I still love the music.
