New Amp Day! Thought it might get weather delayed. Again. Now, if the amp smelled anything like the box, I'd toss it outside for the night. The box smelled like it had stopped off in some brothel somewhere. The classy kind. Where they pour enough perfume around you can only smell overpowering flowers instead of sweat and ... other things. It was brutal. So brutal, the box went into the garage the second I got the amp out. Good gord, WTF?
Only one brand really jumps out at me when it comes to bass gear since I got that Alpha/Omega pedal.
It's a Darkglass DG210A (Analog). 500 Watt Combo into 2 10s. Built in compressor, choice of two different drives or clean, very nicely switchable EQs, mute on the master volume with a push, and it feels like it could withstand a nuclear attack. Got only a few minutes before what I agreed with the new neighbors would be my loud curfew, but god damn. For 210s, it's pretty brutal. And it's definitely got that Darkglass edge if you want it. Frankly, I like it with the blend just over half and the drive set well below half, giving it just a shade of that edge, but we'll see what happens when I get a chance to toss it in a mix. May have a bass playin' bud come over so we can jam it out and see what it sounds like at volume with the guitar rigs.
Any rate, this is a late night, volume on less than 2 take with the new Jazz V bass.
Damned cats. Little bastards do nothing until I set up to record something. Then they're everywhere.
I'm pretty damned giddy over this thing. It even matches the decor!
Fangars burnin pretty bad after all the playin' tonight. Even managed an embarrassingly sloppy version of Schism. The part everybody with a bass tries to play, and most do badly. Yup. Me too.

Nice. One of the best combo amps that do not require a forklift to move.

Re: New Bass Rig - Phase 2
Thanks, guys.
Holy balls. I finally fully cranked it Sunday afternoon. God damn, does it bring the tone as it gets up above the halfway mark. There's some great boominess in that small of a footprint. I won't say it's the best bass rig I've played through, but for the format, I don't know that I've ever heard anything that fat sounding in the low-end in a combo.
And Yarbicus, you ain't wrong. I've been slinging it back and forth between the living room and the office. While it's not light, it's easy to grab with one hand. It also fits in the front seat of the truck, so if I ever go for a jam somewhere it doesn't have to sit out in the weather in the back.
I'm hoping to mic it up sometime this week or next weekend and see what's what. If the mic'ed tone is anything like the room tone, dis gone git gude.

Re: New Bass Rig - Phase 2
Congrats!! Love the dark glass stuff, my bass player has a 2x10 DG cab and some preamp pedal that sound killer (although lately he's been running a quad cortex into the FX return of his markbass head )
