Ramping up my Synergy game this week

Post by eyeball987 »

My main rig has been a SYN-1 and PS-2 for a couple years now. About a month ago I picked up a rack kit for the PS-2 and tomorrow I am supposed to be picking up a SYN-2. Looking forward to taking everything apart and wiring it back up actually. Could use a little cleaning up on the backend and it will be fun to have an actual rack again. My only concern is sticking the PS-2, SYN-2, and Juice Goose in a 6 space rack. Seems a bit tight for all of the heat that is going to come off of the tubes. Maybe I should pick up a bigger rack to give it some air?

Nice! I've been seriously looking at their stuff again, the SYN-20IR has caught my eye since I mainly just record at home.

I had mine in an 6-space rack with a G-Major 2. So, top to bottom, it was power conditioner, GM2, blank space, Syn2, PS2. It was fine.
The PS-2 and PS2 are tube devices and made to withstand heat, you just need to leave space between them and any digital component in the rig.

Just noticed that the wall wart's that I have plugged into the back of the Juice Goose are going to get in the way of racking the SYN-2. Will either have to get a bigger rack, or plug a power strip into the Juice Goose to move the wall warts out of the way.

these are always handy for power strips when you have wall warts that mess things up ...

Thanks! I forgot that those existed. Came up with a workaround after rewiring everything tonight, but I can see the wall warts now. Probably will have to make some more changes and those could come in handy.

they work good not only when space is limited top to bottom (like a single space rack power supply/conditioner sandwiched between other rack stuff), but also when you're prevented from using the adjacent plugs on a strip because the wall warts get in the way.

i need to order more of these myself. lol
