my randalls definitely need a boost to get where i want, the metalzone works great with them and the vh140c too. i busted out my peavey supreme 160 after seeing the Supreme pedal they have, if the pedal sounds anything like the amp that might be one to look at, no boost needed with that amp

Awesome. Would you say the vh140c needs a boost? A lot of the clips I've seen suggest it gets the job done on its own? A boost never hurts though I suppose

Ah man... as a Randall RG80 fanboi for over 30 years, I was hoping the pedal kicked arse right out of the box.
Nevertheless, I think I'll be buying the RGX100 preamp!!!! :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk:
Definitely want to hear some clips!!!!

I played my RG80 (solid state) plugged straight in for a long time, without a boost. I only recently started bringing an EQD Speaker Cranker in case they ask me to turn it down.
I play Punk, not Metal so, I could get away without boosting.... I run the green and red channels at the same time into an EV12L speaker..
Red volume and gain on about 8 and the Green gain and volume on about 6. (the amp allows both channel on at the same time)
I like the way the amp sounds on the floor, not on a chair, with it set to feedback if I step a bit closer to the amp.
The cranked RG80 into the 12L sounds amazing but I have to use the tuner as a gate between songs because, it's a noisy amp.
At almost every gig, someone asks what amp I was using.
Two years ago, I started gigging my Randall RD45H Diavlo. It sounds just like the RG80 but the tubes give it some squishiness and a better feel on the neck.

Yeah it'll do the thing for a punk tone no bother. I'm doing brootz in A standard so I need more saturation than it has out of the box

not as much as the rg100es, and i guess it depends on pickups and whatever else, with emg 81 probably not but with passives you may want one to tighten it up a little for thrash or something.

Boosted with a metal zone and the tone was right fuckin there
I also tried my buds precision drive clone, which did a pretty solid job, but I preferred the metal zone overall. The gate on the precision drive is a pretty nice feature though.

No clips as the barely two months old replacement barrel jack in my rgib6 has just shit the bed. Fuck you neutrik!

Although I did record a quick phone video to send to the other guitarist in my new project. Utterly mindless riffing though

Sounds fucking massive! Definitely captures that Randall sound. I still prefer solid state for these type of tones, just aounds right especially with low tunings. Congrats!

Sounds pretty killer for a phone clip. Nice and tight, while still being chunky.

Sounds brutal! I gotta get my metalzone out, it can sound great on its own as well
