Re: NAD with a side of disappointment.

Yeah, that low-end should have been thumping! I would try the mark effects send out to the legacy effects return just to eliminate whether its a power amp tube issue in the mark.

Re: NAD with a side of disappointment.

I would try plugging the preamp out to another power amp as well just to rule out the power amp tubes.

Also how loud do you have the master cranked up and in which power amp setting? I've had a few mesa amps that sounded flat-out anemic until you got the master to about 10-11 o'clock.

Re: Modded MT15 demo

Mod sounds great! I found mine dark too. Found it worked well with an Nobels ODR as a boost and the presence high though.

I offed my MT15 this week. Traded it for a Friedman IR-J, which is great so far.

Re: Crab Amp Broke

If its the same model, you could provide him some pictures of the inside of that footswitch to determine if an off the shelf FS will suffice.

Re: Crab Amp Broke

The pin closest to the chassis is going to be the sleeve connection point and it should go to the common ground (which is why you are getting continuity there). The middle one is the ring, and the third closest is the tip. If you plug in a patch cable and check between the third closest to the chass...

Re: Coil tapping??

I love series/parallel but can it cause a "popping" sound when switching. My current favorite is the PRS "half tap", where they put a resistor between the ground and the two joined wires. You get less volume loss and not as much hum.

Re: Crab Amp Broke

I appreciate the heads up. I'm sure I could poke around with a probe, I'd just need to get familiar with how to trace the amp. I'm hoping that if I replace the fx loop, then it'll magically work  If not, tech city. If it roars back to life and roasts small rodents when there is a patch cable b...

Re: Crab Amp Broke

It could be the actual relay that changes the channel. I had one fail in a mesa years back. It failed in a way that basically shunted both channels signal to ground. I made a 4ft patch cable plugged into the fx return and on the other side it was an alligator clip and a probe. I was able to play a r...

Re: NAD

Is it the same parallel loop they put in the recto and F series in that one? If so it was a simple mod to make it behave more like a series loop. If I remember correctly it was moving one wire.
