Any opinions on the NuX Cerberus?

I know NuX is not a "mainstream" brand or whatnot, but I'm curious about this unit. Seems well laid out and I think it could be a good match for my IR-D pedalboard. I like that there are no menus but you can save presets. I also really like that they added a Ground Lift before the loop send for 4CM. That's well thought out and it's a feature that even more advanced units don't offer.

So does anyone have any first hand experience with it?

So!!! Since this thread was highly popular!

They had one of these at Atomic Music for a good price (that's why I was asking about it). So I went there today and picked it up.

So first the pros:

The effects sound really good. The drive/distortion section is all analog and sounds great. Very warm and organic. The drive is a Tube Screamer and the distortion is based off a RAT. Both really great sounding.

The modulation/delay/ reverb are digital and also sound great.

Tuner is pretty basic but fast and accurate.

The loop has a switch for -10 or +4 dB.

There are some cool routing options for the delay/reverb an for the drive/distortion. You can route then in series or parallel or change their order. Pretty cool.

There's also a cab emulation section where you can load IRs and route it to one or both the outputs. I didn't try that since I'm using it with the IR-D, which already has IRs.

The unit is very transparent and it's the FIRST multi-effect for 4cm I've seen that offers a ground lift for the front of the amp section, so you don't need isolation transformers. It's extremely quiet, no hum at all. Quieter than my regular pedals actually.

Seems pretty easy to use too. No menus or anything, just turn the knobs and press save, done.

Now the only con:

The TAP switch is broken. And since it's the same switch you have to press and hold to go to Manual mode, that doesn't work either and the unit is stuck on Preset mode. To be fair, there is some physical damage to the switch, it looks like it got stomped on really hard.

So I'm returning this one to Atomic Music tomorrow but I think I'll buy another one. Probably will buy it new this time.

But overall I'm really impressed with this unit. I think I'll be using one as my main effects rig from now on, as long as it proves to be reliable. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt on this one because I do see that some physical damage was done to it.

Hadn’t heard of these but just looked it up. Looks like a pretty cool well thought and features unit! Analog dirts is pretty badass

So I took this back to Atomic Music yesterday. They have an in-house tech so he offered to replace the switch while I waited. He replaced the switch but when we were testing it, we noticed that another switch was starting to act up. So at that point, I just decided to get my money back, because I got worried about the reliability of the unit. I'm not sure if that's a widespread problem with all units or if that one was a lemon or it's been abused or maybe it was an eatly version and these issues have been fixed on later units, who knows.. but still, I wouldn't trust gigging with it.

It's a shame because it really does sound great and its very easy to use. Possibly the best thought out 4cm multi-fx unit I've seen. But apparently the build quality is poor. Oh well.

I know the Cerberus has more an IR loader and more effects settings but every time I think about trying one of these units I always swing back to the Tech21 fly rigs for their build quality.

Yeah I like the Fly Rigs too and I'd be happy to use one if it had MIDI to integrate it with the IR-D.

I'd love to see Tech 21 make an effects only FlyRig with presets. That would be a no-brainer for me.
