Good afternoon,
Ever dissatisfied with my rig, this morning, I flipped most of my pedals, my pedalboard, Waza Air, and $46.55, for a Kemper Profiler and Profiler Remote. The Profiler will arrive on Friday, when I can pick it up at GC Middleton, and the Remote on Monday, probably when I’m on a plane to Dallas, where I will be training for my new job.
Yes, I am aware that I will likely never have perfect modeling of any one amp. However, I could try to be better than, be worse than, or be different than. I am taking the approach of trying to be different than. If it can’t sound or feel exactly the same, then what can it do, tonally, that a tube amp can’t? That’s what I intend to find out.
Besides, it has a headphone jack, which the Tech 21 Liverpool Deluxe does not, and I’ve never been to a concert where Kempers were being used, that had abysmal sound, so I won’t be terribly disappointed. I don’t gig, and I’m not so obsessed with analog recording to make any difference. The Kemper - I got a used, unpowered toaster, in white - will sit nicely on my left-side nightstand (I sleep on the right side of my bed, like a man).
I will need to pick up a Mission expression pedal. I’ll see if I have anything else I can sacrifice.
As an aside: There is a thread on The Gear Page, lamenting the dismal used market. I was at GC today, and the hangers had been empty for three days, and they were receiving a truckload of new inventory. Madison, WI, is not a major market for anything, aside from adult beverages, and even that is waning, so it’s somewhat refreshing to see business holding steady.
Thank you.

Nice. Kempers are cool. I think if I got another Kemper it would the little Profiler Player. I just did a few shows with a Japanese band and the guitar player was using one of them. It sounded pretty good and the price is reasonable..

Pair the Player with a GT-1000 Core (or other effects unit of your choice) and a midi switcher, and you're on a decent path soundwise.
As for the OP, the Profiler should be decent enough for someone who doesn't tour and seems to do fine for people who do tour.

I’m sort of stuck in Dallas, training for my new job, so I can’t pick up the Profiler Remote and expression pedal I flipped two pedals to get. I hope the Remote comes with the cables. They’re sort of a bitch to find.

If you bought it new, it comes with the cable.
But also, any Cat 5 cable will work. It's not a proprietary cable.
