Finally getting creamy

Filling in on guitar for a show with another band in a few weeks, which calls for me to bust out my deluxe reverb
Every time I pull it out I’m reminded how much I hate the Jensen speaker in there especially under any type of dirt or gain. Very unpleasant
So ordered a cream back for that amp, been wanting to try cream backs for a while seems like it should be a good match

Let me know what you think of the Creamback! Which one did you get? The H or M?
I was blasting my Vibrolux with the Silverbirds and I think the Zoar and the Muffs just work with those speakers. Helps that I put the volume at least at 4 so the 6L6s get a workout. Been jamming some Red Fang riffs on em. Thinking I could do some All Them Witches sounds with this rig.

I just went with the M
I’m sure the silver birds are much better. The C12N causes ear and nose cancer
Also ATW =

I didn’t realize I hit the cop gif on my reply
The Silverbirds have a similar midrange grind to them like the Webers I had in there but they’re just a better speaker. They hold together better and aren’t as shrill. I want another Fender amp eventually. Still think a Bassman of sorts would be ideal for me.
I gotta thank you for talking up ATW for a while now because I finally decided to listen. Just been jamming them on Pandora with Royal Blood and a few other things.

C12N has a mid range somethkng or other… just don’t like it lol. Honky and boxy and harsh. It did sound better in the mix but still kind of unpleasant to me. Looking forward to getting the cream back in
I ran the DR into my EVH 2x12 with h30s earlier this afternoon and it was infinitely better sounding. Obviously new speaker isn’t going to give me a closed back 2x12 sound but I definitely anticipate a big improvement
And he’ll yeah!! They’re one of my favorite. They’re in town in a couple weeks but I dropped the ball. They always sell out here and then resale tickets are going for like $100+
I did catch them live last year though and it was amazing

Yeah it won't be the same as a closed back but still should be pretty solid. Different amp but I had an AC30H2 for a bit with an open back cab with G12M Greenbacks in it (the blues had been replaced) and that thing sounded glorious with those speakers. Only downer was I needed an attenuator to even run it at home and it was stupid picky with gain pedals on the top boost channel. So while the tone stack is different, a G12M should still do good things with your deluxe. Get the volume up to 4 or so if you can so the power amp starts cooking a bit and then kick in your pedals to do the rest of the lift. Normal channel may be the way to go here for the heavier dirt as there's no bright cap on it, but the vibrato channel may be fine too. The bright cap and tone stack are in between gain stages (not unlike a Boogie) so the louder it gets the less effect they have. I don't like the bright cap on my Vibrolux on either channel when it's at 3 or below if I'm using dirt. If I'm playing cleans? I'm a fan, especially with P90s, HBs and Trons. That's also why I use an ABY pedal to use my Vibrato channel as my cleans and my Normal Channel as my dirt.
I think I want to build a dedicated board for the Fender though and run some kind of loop switcher so I can have my various dirt boxes as channels, essentially and map my delay and modulation to whatever channel I need them on the amp itself. It's not a huge deal as I'm not in a band at the moment, but if I did a new thing and was using this amp, I think I'd like to have that.

Nice grab, I'm curious how the creamback sounds in it. I have a Weber 12F150 in my DR that I love. Great clean and with all kinds of dirt, it's loud and sounds pretty big. I've done outdoor gigs with it and it definitely keeps up with much larger amps. Honestly I don't think I've been huge on the Jensen's I've tried other than the old 15" in my Supro.
And all about the ATW love, fuckin love those guys.

I’m pretty sure most of the issues I had with mine were because they were undoped. And I’m enjoying the Silverbirds greatly. They sound great in the room and record up wonderfully. But I wouldn’t rule out trying another set of Webers. Mainly something in their big magnet series like their JBL take or EVM take. Some Michigan 10s could be cool.

Yeah, I think my Weber has light doping. I've thought about getting another Vibrolux and throwing a pair of WGS ET10's in there actually. Speaking of ATW, if I'm recalling correctly Ben ran his Twin through a cab with some ET10's when they recorded one of their albums (Sleeping Through the War maybe?)

I think he did. I think now he’s using Blackbird Alnico 12s? ET10s also popped on my radar.
EDIT : yeah he’s listed as an artist for the ET10. Maybe I should get a Mojotone Fender Tremolux style 2x10 and load it with some ET10s and make a combo stack lol.
