How's the mix/toanz?

I've been working on upping my home recording game for band demos. I feel like I'm finally starting to get some decent results.

This track is a quickie I put together today - no vocals, and a couple small flubs I'll eventually go back and fix. But I would love to hear some thoughts on the overall mix and tones.

Guess the gear for bonus points!

The tones are great!!! I like the song too, very cool. As far as the mix goes, id maybe lower the guitars a bit, but very good overall.

Sounds really good, my only critique would be kind of dumb I think because why would you want two different sounds and one song? But the kick drum while it fits the overall song I think it really sticks out like a sore thumb in the beginning without distortion on top of it. Otherwise it sounds great man it's really glued together and man I wish I could make my recordings sound like that

I thought the mix sounded good and clear, any plans to add vocals to it in the future?

I kind of had the same impression. I think it could be handled just by lowering the attack/velocity on the kick under the clean bits, taking some of the sharpness off of it, giving it a chance to sit better under the guitar.

Other than that, this sounds really good, man. Nice work.

Cool song! I think the mix is a bit anemic. Here's how I would tweak it with mastering EQ and compression: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2yoh1u7v ... ckMass.wav

EQ is boosting 19k, cutting 6k, boosting 2.1k, cutting 650 and 240, and boosting 60hz. I could recommend some plugins if you're interested.

Thanks dudes! Appreciate the feedback! It's a super simple setup - just 4 tracks.

Single guitar track going into a stereo splitter (Keeley 30ms). One side into a Boss RE-2 into a UA Lion panned hard left, the other into a UA Ruby panned hard left. Strymon Flint for reverb on both. The clean tone is just guitar volume rolled off and a Suhr Discovery delay.

Bass is a Science Mother preamp into a GarageBand AmpSim down the middle.

Drums are 100% GarageBand AI drums :cop: . I threw them in as a placeholder under our drummer can record his own drums.
