The Jensen Jet series seems interesting as an alternative to Celestion. I have two cabs with Celestions, so something a bit different would be cool.
I'm looking at Raptor, Electric Lightning, and Nighthawk, but open to suggestions. The Nighthawk with the Raptor seem like they'd make a great X pattern pairing.
Any thoughts?

I’ll have to double check which one it is specifically but I have. ‘76 deluxe reverb with a Jensen and I’m not gonna lie, I don’t care much for how it sounds with much dirt beyond an SD-1 level of gain

I don't care for some Fenders with gain to be fair. They can work, but its a bit of a juggling act.

I tried a 2x12 cab with Nighthawks at Atomic Music and they sounded really good. Beefy low end and a good amount of highs, although not as cutting as v30s. I don't know if it's something I'd buy but I'd have no problem playing that cab live. I haven't tried the others yet.

What amp or circuit was it based on?

It was just a cab, but I tried it with an EVH 50w and a Marshall JVM heads. I was basically testing the heads and that was the cab that was available. Sounded pretty good. I ended up buying the EVH that day based on the test.

That's cool. I think the Raptor and Nighthawk sounds good in this demo.

Jets are a different animal than the standard reissue series. Newer style cone construction and doping, more robust magnets and voice coils too. I’ve got the Jet Silverbirds 10s in my Vibrolux which were meant to capture more of the voicing of the alnico Blackbirds but in a ceramic format. They’re great. I love them clean and gained up. I know Cole runs a bunch of their 12s with his Riveras. The Nighthawks and Falcons in particular to me seem to lean more toward the Celestion side. Falcons seem to have some Greenback similarities to me. The Electric Lightning from what I’ve listened to gets closer to a V30 type thing but still Jensen. They also have some high wattage neos that are supposed to be more neutral kind of like a CL80 or EVM but still in the Jensen voicing.
The only caveat is they can take a while to break in but I’ve enjoyed my Silverbirds so much out of the box that I am constantly playing my Vibrolux. It’s actually inspired me to learn some SRV type things (I am nowhere near on the level of SRV but I enjoy playing the main progression in Lenny a ton now). And I use my Dude pedal to add some thick Dumble like gain. Obviously not 80s rock but I like the Jets a lot. A buddy of mine has the Mesa Cali Tweed with the Blackbird 10 40 and that helped push me towards the Silverbirds. So did talking to Cole.

I have a couple of the 65 watt ones. I’m spacing, get it? Lol, on what models. There’s was a model with the 65, 80 or 100. The clips on Jensens site at least has a real high gain tone clip compared to Celestion and Eminence (who used to have the fuxking WORST clips imaginable) so I was able to pick pretty accurately at what I wanted. So I’d say just go check out their site clips for metal. I made a choice cause I wanted something with more relaxed mids like the Evh speakers cause the Evh amp has a ton of mids l. And they sounded like I was expecting!
Altho shortly after I bought them they go for $220 or something. Which is pretty nuts. The ones I got were also Neo mag net so they weigh just a few pounds. I have em in a 2x12 I made and it’s definitely nice to just grab that by the handle on the amp head in the other hand and walk in with a 2x12 and head like a fucking man! Haha. I would do that anyway even if they were regular speakers. I can carry fucking gear for 1 minute walking into a venue. But while I do carry somthing in each hand for the balance, it’s legit easy to carry this and the head in the other.

Check out amplified parts also as every now and again they do crazy sales on the Jensen stuff.
