Well one of the few I actually didn’t “build”. It’s a Musikraft body and Warmoth Neck. I did do a little mod to the neck heel transition tho.
I will try not to overwxplain like usual . But basically I got this body for a bit of a discount. Even tho I can make a guitar from scratch to the same quality or even better! Hah, if the price is right, I’ll buy parts. So I painted this last winter. Nitro lacquer of course. I was eager to play it, so after only 4-5 days of curing i buffed it out and brought it to a couple shows. The Frigid Chicago winters mixed with warm venues and my house afterwards, the lacquer actually checked(cracked) a bit. Not bad. But “real” checking. And even tho I played it a bit my goal was to sell this. But with lacquer checking…? Kinda hard to sell that and call it “new”. And since I painted it “vintage white”, I had an Antiquity JB For the pickup and this Aged Bronze Schaller hardware??, it made sense to relic it. Since all that sorta lent itself towards that look. And the thing is I honestly do beat the shit out of my guitars so I have good examples of how a guitar wears naturally. And considering this Is based on an 80s Kramer design. I multiplied my wear of just 4-5 years to beat a guitar up to 40 years!!! . I actually do like it a lot. It plays awesome! I promise it could be someone’s “#1”. But I am looking to sell it so if you are interested get in Touch!!!!
And my goofy dog Gimp. Cause I love this thing. She’s the best friend I’ve ever had! Ha

Looks awesome man!! The relic'ing actually looks real and not like some companies that I won't name, that makes them look like they were dragged under a truck. This looks like actual playing wear.
Dog looks a bit relic'd herself

Awwww don’t be mean to Gimpers!!! Hahaha. She’s so funny to me.
But thanks man! I was legit worried I’d just end up refinishing this thing cause it would turn out “wrong” looking. But this past year and a half of steady gigging and one of my guitars is my sorta main one , I finished painting JUST as we started playing live and it’s gotten surprisingly beat up. Basically all from gigs etc. And then I have older ones with so many little dings I had my own examples of how to make it more “real”. Cause sometimes I see these and, maybe it’s cool looking, but it’s not realistic at all. Wearing thru paint just by turning the volume??? Maybe a cunt hair but not like some of these look. Shit like that I didn’t want to go overboard

I figured this thing was going to look just ghastly. I like relic guitars, but oftentimes, it is so over the top that it looks fake. This looks like it has 20-30 years of use. Awesome!
Edit: for control adjustment wear, it'd mostly be scratches in the finish, particular with gloss finish. You aren't going to get it down to bare wood just from that.

looks great! The design and the level of relic really resonates with me
Re: I made a relic’d Guitar!!
Thanks man! This thing shreds for sure. I had to bring it to the shop and hang it in there cause I was playing it everyday and I’m like “aim keeping it!” Every time. Lol. So it’s out of sight at least. Cause I simply have too many fucking guitars. Just can’t keep adding. And as a small builder, what good am I if I keep ‘em all!??? Haha. Anyway, I’m not looking for an arm and leg. The parts and hardware are all high end, or I should saying “higher end”. But I am also looking to move it as quick as possible. Again anyone interested just get in touch and let’s talk2tallmusic wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:45 pm looks great! The design and the level of relic really resonates with me

Looks sweet! Non-tilt Pacer Special. The Kramer nerds would simlulateously be swooning, and bitching.
Gear: A little of this, a little of that
