NAD: 1986 JCM800 2204

Post by Guitarbilly »

I went to the rehearsal studio today (it's in the back of a music store) and they had just gotten a 1986 2204.
They told me to take it to the studio and practice with it to see if I like it. I played 3 chords through it and I knew I had to have it
JCM800s can vary from one unit to another and this is a seriously good one, by far the strongest, leanest 2204 I've played.

I need to figure out a way to run delays with it but I don't know if I want to risk modding it. And I don't know if I want the cost of the Power Station either. I have load boxes here so I think I'll just get a small power amp and slave this into it.

It's single channel... throw the delay in front, set the level and call it a day.

Nice! I’m very jealous, I’ve been GASsing hard for an 800 lately.

Would love to hear a shootout of this against your 1987x and Mojotone 2203

Also, don’t the horizontal-input 800s have the DI out on the back? You could run that directly to a second power amp instead of a load box. Would be one less piece of equipment to carry :idk:

Not to further enable your buying habits (or maybe I am?), but wouldn’t that Palmer Supreme Soaker do the loop thing as well as the Palmer thing and knock out a few pieces of gear at once?
More guitars than anyone could need

True, I can take the signal straight from the DI out. But the amp still needs a load.

Yes that would work. It's $1100 though :(

Wet/Dry/Wet or more like Mix/Dry/Mix. Even if you didn't want to go full WDW, you could do a line out to delay/FX to a power amp back to a stereo 4x12. Wet and dry from one cab.

This is the way.

Ah, that’s fair. I was under the impression you would do wet/dry with the second power amp

Just set a Carbon Copy up front with the mix way down. I love that aesthetic since I have the matching 86 cab :D
