yueah they are fun amps. i find the sonic to be a bit on the stiffer side of things, the 1200s has a bit more "bounce"

What is Sunn's claim to fame? They're one of the only cult brands I have zero experience with other than that band Sunn))) but they suck balls.

Lots of doom/stoner and post metal bands have used various sunns over the years
They're loud and clean
and Jimi Hendrix used them for a bit
