That culprit is the 6505/5150. The OG version.. To the point, I played the 2x12 combo for 20 years while using the head whenever I had the chance, or for a number of years I did have both.. But they are NOT the same and the 120 watt head I used like most with a Boost of some sort.. It works fine and all, but I ALWAYS liked the combo better.. And even tho its still very much a 5150 my recordings usually felt a little different than a regular boosted 5150.. So a little while ago I set out to match the tone in the head that I get from plugging straight into the combo. Ad I FOUND it.. 95% Id say.. A d that was with an MXR 6 and up front.. No Overdive or EQ in the loop.. With the right settings I can achieve the fabled 2x12 tone but with the big amp.. And that extra5% is jus the bigger power section which isn't a negative..
So Ive been working back in the Death metal realm again.. Mainly Death/thrash.. I always sorta blurred those lines with my death metal project.. And I found I REALLY loved the tone of this Ugritone Drums Against Humanity plugin.. The cymbals are truly unparalleled in realness.. The shells are very real too.. But there is no fancy 3 piece ultra processed kicks or snare.. They still are raw drums.. So its fidelity is less, but its exactly how I hear this kinda f stuff. O r I should say prefer it..
So thats the Info.. Ill link both new songs I've written so far for this current EP, or however many it ends up.. I even have vocals brewing!! SO no more excuses, we are working on it.. Oh yeah, last thing, I found my new favorite mic combo with the Beyerdynamic m201 and Sennheiser 421. Them fucking germans. You know many look at me and Don't see German heritage!! haha. But I'm somehow full blooded as far as I know.. Just a random fact.. Both on the same speaker.. Basically 50/50.. One running thru an API preamp and the other thru a NEVE. I made the 4x12 and its A Celestion g12-65 speaker.

I've always preferred the combo myself. Although I like the I and II heads, but yeah they're different. The II is closer to the combo but still not the same.
Anyway, this sounds great. I agree the drums sound very good and they give the track more of an old school, 90s sound, which I prefer than modern metal production. Good shit man.

Sweet, thanks Bill! That’s pretty much the goal? Altho I’m not purposely trying to sound “90s”( but that just so happens to be the last era where there was triggers and shit around but also many recordings were NOT! And I’d argue it was the last era where just about every release sounded entirely different besides the specific “Swedish Sound” or Florida/Morrisound Sound. Besides those couple specifics I have albums of the same year that couldn’t sound more different. And it came down to gear and just using what they all had.., They certainly weren’t all winners. Lol. But I never really cared if the music was good and looking back I much preferred the varied sound from band to band, album to album. And at the very least these drums, are totally processed by me. Even in the early 2000s, that’s how it was done but it was still somewhat the same libraries and they definitely didn’t have the cymbals dialed in quite yet. As far as sampling. Then came the eta where maybe it wasnt TOTALLY edited and sampled but instead of the true RAW drum tones they gave an edited “raw” tone. Which just ended up being the catalyst for the same-ness.,, And on the other side of the token tho, it gave the relatively unskilled at home DIY guy access to pro sounds.., So a catch 22 to some degree. And I’m not totally knocking it, but even when I used these processed drums and was fairly satisfied, it truly never sat right with me…
So that’s my $1.25 cents. Haha

JezusfknA dude... Crazy precise riffage as always. I also use the Ugritone drums but usually mixed in with my normal AD2 drums. I mainly the like how you can dial in the snare to sound just like it does when playing in a room with that "pank" sound lol. Good shit!
Re: Likely Culprit but done different..Maybe? lol
Drums by Edge Lord! Sounds like it's ready to go off the side of a cliff but never does. And the riffage from 2:40 to 3:00 is beyond ballistic!
