I found this at a great price on Reverb the other day ($799 shipped with the OHSC) and had to buy it:





It's a 2009 SG Special Robot, that had the Robot tuners taken out and converted to a regular guitar. I'd been looking for one of these Robot conversion SGs because their jacks are on the side of the guitar like a Les Paul, which IMHO is a much better placement than in front of the guitar like most SGs.

It sounds and plays great!! I need to get locking tuners for it eventually. Stock pickups are good. I think they're 498T/490R but I will only know for sure when I open the guitar up. But whatever they are, I like them.

Not a bad price at all , I also wasn’t aware about the jack being on the side on the robots.

nice, i remember looking at robots thinking they would be cheap and i would just replace the tuners but they were expensive lol

Dang they roboticized the SG Special?? Fuckin wild, but glad to hear you found one that was unfucked for a great price.

damn.... nice score.... what neck does that model have? I know the modern standards have the rounded neck Vs the '61 Standard and Special having the slim taper neck and the smaller heal/neck joint..... I've really been loving my Special and I'm seriously considering getting another SG with humbuckers

'59 rounded on this one. But it's the same on my 2012 Special. I think they were doing '59 rounded on all SGs back then (this one is an 09).

gotcha..... I think I might just bite the bullet and get a '61 standard eventually....

My 2016 SG P90 Standard is also he rounded profile. That guitar plays amazing and sounds like sex.
