Full saga available in my other thread, but all said and done successfully acquired for $1k plus $40 for the step up transformer

Haven’t really spent any meaningful time with it and probably won’t be able to til this weekend. Gonna crack a manual in the mean time, Lots going on here. I’ve owned a V and III in the past but it’s been a while

Beautiful amp man!!! Glad it all worked out!!! Definitely RTM with this amp, there a lot of features and it takes a while to get it dialed in. Definitely worth it though!!!

Spending a little time with it this morning, cleans are to die for. I don’t mind the cleans on my 5153/other high gainers but this certainly another level.

A lot going on and im not even bothering with R2 at the moment

Doing some dialing in on the lead channel but this definitely isn’t an apartment amp still getting some good tones at reasonable volumes so far. Probably will still give it a good brief cranking this afternoon

Have practice on Wednesday tho so that’ll be the real test. Have 3 gigs in April so hopefully will make a live appearance as well we shall see

This is good news. It really comes to life at volume as most amps do. See how you like it in the combo and of course try it with your other cabs too. There’s also a lead voicing switch for harmonics and midgain. They’re subtle tweaks to the voice but cool. Of course try the pentode/triode switch too. That’s the one Mesa I legit miss. Never should have sold that when I got my first V.

Yeah immense amount of tweak ability here. I remember some similarities to my III like the separate gain/drive but even more going on here. I think I have some EL34s in a box somewhere so gotta play around with the simulcalss too

I feel like people sometimes complain about dialing in the Mark V but from what I recall from mine it's pretty simple compared to older marks

Drummer caught the rona... likely from our show last thursday so getting a true crank of the IV is delayed

Still been playing it exclusively at home the past few days. Rhy 1 and 2 sound amazing even at low volume. I'm getting good tone out of the lead channel but I can tell its getting danker and danker the more I sneak up the volume lol. Looking forward to some hours at band volume

By all accounts and schematics I've found in research sounds like all the export IVs should have multiple taps so gotta call around some techs and get quotes. But the stepup transformer is only a mild inconvenience at worst. Pretty easy to forget about

yeah my old 240V Laney also had a 120v tap so I could have gotten it modded but I never bothered to do it. The step down transformer is not a big deal at all.
