Well, 2024 ended strong with 2 Les Paul Standards and a PRS S2 McCarty Wood Library.
The S2 surprised me as I gave up giving a f*ck about PRS about a decade ago. Last I knew the S2’s were US bodies with S2 hardware and electronics.
Was browsing Reverb bored looking for my old SC245 and found a wood library run of McCarty’s with satin finish, ebony boards and sick tops. Bought this one and have a purple burst inbound as well. They took $600 off each for buying 2.
Next is a Gibson Standard “Blood Moon” that I got from my drummer. He owns a music shop and got it in on trade. He offered it to me for peanuts (comparatively speaking) so I nabbed it. Love this guitar. Wish it had the 50’s neck but alas…
Last is a grail one for me. 2005 Les Paul Standard Gold Top. Got this from an amp builder buddy for $1500! Killer deal but again, kind of a bro situation so couldn’t say no.
Crazy, I only ever bought a Les Paul because I did KISS tributes but these 2 in particular have become some of my favorite guitars hands down.
The PRS is a monster player. Oddly slightly shorter scale than even the LP’s but it’s awesome for lead playing as still gets really chuggy.
