So.. I have a Fernandes Firefly (alder body, bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard) which is kinda bright. Would a SD Distortion enhance that or it would do the opposite (I want to tame that brightness) ? Tuning is drop B, style is hardcore/nu-metal. What do you think ?

I don’t find the Distortion overly bright or trebly. I’ve got one in an 83 Charvel with an alder body, maple neck and rosewood board. It’s throaty, has a solid low end (thicker than an EMG 81 but tighter than a JB) and a clear but not shrill top end. I’ve never tuned that guitar lower than D but for my purposes that pickup is wonderful.

Yeah, I don't think it would accentuate it or make it darker. But it should sound great anyway.

I don't think it will enhance the brightness but it won't tame it either. I think for a low tuning like Drop B, it would actually work really well.

If you want to tame the brightness, something like a Custom Custom would probably be a better choice for that, but it could be a little too dark for Drop B tuning.
