Premise of thread is correct. Stumbled across this today:

"This thing's hideous"
"Yeah it's not hideous enough. I make it more hideous and go, 'Perfect.'"

:cop: Dammit, Zakk.

I wonder how many he actually sells?

I've spent years on forums and I don't recall a single Wylde Audio NGD post.

I mean shit, must sell enough to warrant them to keep making them.

In further displays of lack of taste he's talking about writing new songs with pantera :cop:

Yeah the guys at Atomic Music told me that every time 6 get a Wylde guitar in, they sell it almost immediately :idk:

There are not a lot of people that like these crazy shapes but those who do, don't have a lot of options either, so the market levels out that way.

It's probably a better business model than releasing a strat/LP copy and having to compete with 1000s of similar models out there. How many new brands get established by doing that? Not many.

Zakk seems to be a business savvy guy despite his public persona, which is probably a calculated move too.

Out of the 80s guys he is one of the very few that were able to transition past the 90s with a new band and remained "current" throughout the decades, where people actually go to shows to hear new material. He's not as dumb as he usually sounds.

I honestly prefer that than trying to play the old stuff. I think Zakk, Phil and Rex writing together could be cool.

The old stuff doesn't sound right. I went to the show because I got free tickets. And LOG was opening.
It was not a bad show in its own merit, Phil, in particular, sounds great these days. But I've seen the real Pantera many times in the 90s and that wasn't it.

So is it bad? No. Is it Pantera? Also no.

But new material could actually work.

I'm all for Zakk, Phil and Rex writing new tunes. But don't call it Pantera. I get that there's nostalgia for the name, and I'm sure it would sell, but it'd sell just as well with a new name and a sticker that said, "In Tribute to Pantera." Phil's already got like twenty other bands he's in that sell just fine. I'm sure the name recognition of Zakk plopping together with him would sell fine no matter what they call it.

Also, broslinger gave me a case of the giggles. Those guitars would have fit right in during that era. I can see Limp Bizkit playing them to introduce the Undertaker.
